    Brajdic is 3,200 champ at 29th Optimist Meet

    Behind a first-place finish from Michael Brajdic in the 3,200-meter run at the 29th Optimist Meet at Austintown Fitch, the Bay boys track team placed ninth with 22 points.

    Bradjic, who was timed in 9:27.02, was able to hold off runner-up Dylan Papp of Green, who hit the line in 9:28.53 in a race that saw each of the top eight crack 9:40.

    The Rocket distance man also ran the first leg of the Bay 3,200 relay that placed seventh at 8:29.95 with Dan Ward, Alex Meyers and Jordan Hawkins.

    The pole vault was also a place for success for the Rockets as Bay had Evan Mutch finish second with a top effort of 13 feet where Matt McDonald of Eastlake North won at 13-6. The Rockets also had Nathan Campbell grab a tie for sixth at 11 feet.

    The Bay girls placed 14th with 15 points with Bridget Doughty placing twice in hurdle events. Doughty was seventh in the 100 hurdles with a 15.86 won by Tamica Harbour of Euclid in 14.76 Doughty later was sixth in the 300 at 47.00 in a race won by Nicole Pachol of Howland in 44.17.

    The Rockets also had a fourth from Kelsey Barnes in the 400 run with a 1:01.08 where first went to Dalanna Barron of Warrensville at 56.79.
