• Be ready to wheel your way through winter
When the weather turns cold, it's time to seek out destinations within easy driving distance of northeast Ohio. Some of my favorite places to visit are within an hour or two of my West Side home. There are many parks and lodges that offer great getaways and the short drive will be welcome when the snow starts to come in January and February.

• Time to take that last getaway weekend before holidays
Since I've been writing this column for about a year, I've had the pleasure of sharing my own travel experiences with you and having you, our readers, share yours with us. It's been a great give-and-take. The travel photos that we have been receiving on a regular basis also have been truly inspiring. Keep them coming.
