Ex-girlfriend reacts violently to seeing man's new woman
FAIRVIEW PARK DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROADAt 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 1, a 27-year-old Fairview Park man arrived at the Fairview Village Apartments to his ex-girlfriend's place of residence to pick up his toddler son during his visitation rights. The ex-girlfriend followed the man to his car, where she saw his new girlfriend sitting inside the vehicle. The ex-girlfriend began exchanging words and then punches with the new girlfriend. Once police arrived, the 27-year-old ex-girlfriend was charged with assault. She was booked and then released on a bond. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROADAt 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 2, police arrived to the Fairpark Apartments due to an argument that turned violent. Police found a 42-year-old female arguing with her 37-year-old boyfriend. Police found some evidence that the boyfriend had hit the girlfriend, however, both had denied any physical violence had took place. Police discovered the man had failed to appear in court for a traffic violation in Cleveland. He was arrested and turned over to the Cleveland Police Department. THEFT, WESTGATE SHOPPING CENTERAt 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, an employee reported to police her locker that held her belongings had been broken into and her wallet had been stolen from her purse. Police found the suspect to be a female customer who was given approval to use the employee restroom in the break room. Police were able to track down the suspect at her place of employment, where she turned herself in and returned most of the missing items. The 21-year-old Cleveland woman was charged with petty theft and was released on personal bond.

Store clerk rings up discounts but keeps savings for herself
NORTH OLMSTED EMPLOYEE THEFT, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:An employee at Macy's had discounted numerous items for a customer and kept the customer's $100 gift card without the individual's knowledge. The employee had rung up a $168.34 sale then discounted all of the merchandise to a total of $20.83 without the customer realizing what she was doing. The employee told the customer she was paying $168.34 for the merchandise. The customer attempted to pay for the merchandise using two Macy's gift cards and a charge card. The employee spent the customer's gift card on several personal transactions, and also admitted to other Macy's thefts totaling $939.43. However, Macy's only wanted prosecution for the current theft. She was released on a $3,000 personal bond, and will appear in court. THEFT FROM AUTO, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:Police have no witnesses or suspects in a Dec. 30 theft from an auto parked at Dicks Sporting Goods. The owner of the Ford Focus told police the car may have inadvertently been left unlocked. The driver's work bag was stolen. It contained several items including prescription eyeglasses, Clinique makeup, work keys from the Cleveland Clinic and personal checks from National City Bank. THEFT FROM AUTO, COUNTRY CLUB BOULEVARD:A couple went out to dinner at Lone Star Steakhouse and returned to their car to find it broken into. Someone had smashed the window out and stolen the global positioning system. No one was seen in the area and no footprints were available, according to reports. The GPS equipment is valued at $350. DISTURBANCE, STONEYBROOK ROAD:A resident living on Stoneybrook Road told police someone threw a large potted plant through the front side window of their home. The planter caused damage to the living room television. Police have no suspects. SQUEALING TIRES, LORAIN ROAD:Police pulled over a white Pontiac Trans Am because the driver was heard revving its engine and squealing the tires. The driver admitted to drinking a few beers that night, according to reports. He recorded a 0.207 percent blood-alcohol content and failed field sobriety tests, according to reports. Police charged him with squealing tires, operating a vehicle while impaired and a high blood-alcohol content. He was released on personal bond to a sober party. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROAD:An Arabic girl called police stating her father was going to kill her and that he had already punched her in the face. The girl had told her father she was going to work, but she had really spent the day with her boyfriend. Her father found out, and began yelling and smacking her. She told police in her culture girls are not allowed to date or have sex, according to reports. The girl was able to break free and run up to United Dairy Farmers to call police. She said her father threatened to take her back to Palestine and perform an "honor killing" to save their pride and reputation. Police arrested the man for domestic violence, and photos were taken of his bloody hand. TRAFFIC WEAVING, LORAIN ROAD:Police observed a white Ford Taurus weaving through lanes on Lorain Road and driving erratically. The driver was pulled over, and police immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol. The man exited his car and was very unsteady. He failed field sobriety tests and recorded a 0.188 percent blood-alcohol content. He was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, weaving and a traffic violation for yielding when entering the roadway.

NORTH OLMSTED OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, BROOKPARK ROAD:A man will likely be charged with driving under the influence after his urine sample is returned to the police department. Police pulled the man over on Dec. 22 because he was weaving through lanes and ignoring stop lights. The man failed field sobriety tests and was unable to record an accurate breath sample. The man was blocking the mouthpiece while he was blowing into the machine, according to reports. Police took the man to St. John West Shore for a urine sample. The sample will be ready in approximately five days. Police found a total of 12 suspensions on the man's license, with all but one still open. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, BROOKPARK ROAD:An officer was on patrol in the area of Lorain and Brookpark roads, and noticed a white Ford Taurus weaving through traffic. The driver went through a red light and made a sudden stop in the middle of an intersection. Police pulled the driver over and noticed a smell of alcohol coming from the car. The man told police he had two beers. Police administered field sobriety tests, which the man failed. He recorded a 0.188 percent blood-alcohol content, according to reports. The man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, blood-alcohol content more than the legal limit, weaving and yield entering the roadway. He will appear in court. The man was released on two $3,000 personal bonds. DISABLED VEHICLE, COLUMBIA ROAD:Police were called to Columbia Road where a Ford Expedition was facing eastbound in a home's tree lawn. The man got out of his car and police noticed a strong smell of alcohol. The man admitted to police that he had eight beers. When police asked the man if he had ever been arrested for drunk driving before, the man stated, "yes, once in Cleveland I believe." The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk driving. He recorded a 0.198 percent blood-alcohol content. Police issued tickets to the man for failure to control, operating a vehicle while impaired and a high blood alcohol content. He has one prior drunk driving conviction. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, INTERSTATE 480:An officer reported a man passed out in a black truck on the Interstate 480 off-ramp at Clague Road. Police approached and found the man slumped over on the passenger's side. The man would not wake up, so police opened his unlocked truck door. The truck was not in park and was remaining still because the man's foot was on the brake. There was a very strong odor of alcohol inside the truck cab. After several attempts, the man finally woke up and began mumbling something unintelligible. When police asked him if he knew where he was, the man stated, "south Akron." He was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired and recorded a 0.121 percent blood-alcohol content. He will appear in court. THEFT, LORAIN ROAD:At 11:51 a.m. Dec. 22, police arrested a woman for theft after T.J. Maxx security caught her shoplifting $89.97 of merchandise. When police asked the woman why she was stealing, she said needed to get presents for the kids, according to reports. The woman has a history of thefts and a conviction for failure to comply with police.

FAIRVIEW PARK VANDALISM, WEST 228TH STREETOn Dec. 27, a resident reported someone threw a rock through her home window sometime overnight. VANDALISM, WESTWOOD ROADOn Dec. 29, Westwood Road and West 223rd Street residents reported to police damage caused by rocks. North Olmsted and Rocky River police also received reports of rock damage. Police are investigating the incidents.

FAIRVIEW PARK VEHICLE THEFT, COFFINBERRY BOULEVARDAt 3 a.m. Dec. 15, police discovered a 2002 Dodge Stratus with the engine idling, unattended and facing the wrong direction. The steering column was peeled.

Driver pulled over for weaving found to be a repeat customer
NORTH OLMSTED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LIQUOR, COLUMBIA ROAD:An officer saw a driver weaving through lanes on Columbia Road, and pulled him over. The man emitted an odor of alcohol and his speech was slurred, according to reports. The man refused to take field sobriety tests. Police told him if he refused the tests, he would be arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired, to which he replied, "that's fine, I know the drill." Police transported him to the station, where the man refused to give a breath sample, stating he "knew better." He was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, refusal and several traffic violations. He has a history of drunken driving. THEFT FROM AUTO, GAREAU DRIVE: A Gareau Drive man reported his Ford F-150 truck was broken into overnight on Dec. 15. The man had left his wallet in the truck and it was missing. The wallet contained $20 in cash, credit cards, a Social Security card, driver's license and other miscellaneous items. A resident reported seeing a man going through the truck, but did not report it at the time. THEFT, GREAT NORTHERN SHOPPING CENTER:Police charged a woman with theft after she observed shoplifting several items from Marc's. The woman denied shoplifting and was not cooperative with security, according to reports. She has a history of theft. Police released the woman on a $3,000 personal bond. She will appear in court. THEFT, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:A Sears employee was caught activating store gift cards and then using them to make purchases. He activated $500 in gift cards. Police arrested him for felony theft. DISTURBANCE, BROOKPARK ROAD:A man witnessed another man breaking the window out of a car parked at Brown Bag Burger, 25853 Brookpark Road. He told police he saw the man reach inside the car and take something out. Police were called and caught up to the suspect, who had stolen a global positioning system out of the car. He had a screwdriver in his pocket, along with a syringe used as a drug abuse instrument and a metal cap from a glass container. The bottom of the metal cap was covered in black soot, according to reports. The man stated he is a heroin addict, and uses the drug about five times per day. Police charged the man with theft, criminal damaging, possessing criminal tools and possessing drug abuse instruments. The man has a history of robbery, burglary, petty theft, receiving stolen property, vehicle theft, complicity, drug abuse, intimidation, possession of drugs, domestic violence, contempt of court, drug trafficking and aggravated theft. PETTY THEFT, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:Macy's security spotted a man select a coat from the rack and replace it with the jacket he was wearing. He carried his jacket out of the store, wearing the new one, and did not make attempts to pay for the item, according to reports. The man has a history for possession of dangerous drugs. He told police he was on probation and did not want to go back to jail. Police charged him with petty theft shoplifting, and he was released on a $3,000 personal bond. THEFT FROM AUTO, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:A JC Penney shopper returned to her parked car and noticed the security code key pad was hanging. Some of the paneling was stripped and on the ground. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle, according to reports. There are no witnesses or suspects.

Man disregards loud crash, later discovers land damage
NORTH OLMSTED CRIMINAL DAMAGE, MASTICK ROAD:A Mastick Road man reported damage to his landscaping and a front yard lamp post at 10:45 p.m. Friday. According to reports, the man heard a loud noise outside his home at 9 p.m. but thought nothing of it. An hour later, he took his dog out and noticed the lamp post in his front yard broken and lying in the driveway. Tire marks went through his yard and there was damage to mulch and shrubbery. The damage is estimated at $1,100, according to reports. There are no witnesses or suspects. THEFT, LORAIN ROAD:A woman reported her purse stolen at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11. She had been dining at Steak On a Stone, 30111 Lorain Road, and arrived home after 1 p.m. The woman went to leave home again and could not find her purse. She looked all over the house, called her friend and the restaurant, but the purse could not be located. The woman told police she must have had her purse at the restaurant because she paid the bill. The purse is brown with a gold emblem on the front. All credit cards have been canceled, according to reports. THEFT, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:Police charged a woman with theft on Friday after JC Penney security watched her leave the store without paying for three necklaces. The woman paid for items on the second floor, but exited the store without buying the jewelry, according to reports. Police released the woman on a $3,000 personal bond. She will appear in court. SHOPLIFTING, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:A woman was charged with theft and criminal trespassing on Dec. 8 at Macy's department store. Store security saw the woman conceal several pieces of fashion jewelry inside her purse and leave the store. The woman was stopped and brought back into the department store where the $408 in merchandise was recovered. She had been caught stealing at Macy's in April and signed an agreement to stay out. Police charged her with theft and criminal trespass. She was released on a $4,500 personal bond and will appear in court. SHOPLIFTING, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:A Macy's employee was caught shoplifting $320.95 of items. The employee kept a customer's receipt from a DVD player, and picked out the same player later. She entered the stockroom with the DVD player. Later, when her shift ended, security watched the employee leave with a Macy's bag and a backpack. Her packages were checked, and the DVD player, along with towels and a set of Waterford Crystal candle holders, were found. The woman has a previous conviction for petty theft dating back to September, according to reports. Police charged the woman with theft and released her on a $3,000 personal bond. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, DOVER CENTER ROAD:Dispatch received a call on Dec. 10 about a possible drunk driver traveling westbound on Lorain Road. Police located the driver, and saw the car weaving through lanes and traveling left of center. The driver was pulled over by police. The driver told the officer that he had six to seven beers at the Rocky River Brewing Company. Police administered field sobriety tests and found the man to be intoxicated. A blood-alcohol content test recorded 0.166 percent, according to reports. Police charged the man with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, a blood alcohol content more than the legal limit and a traffic violation. He will appear in court. The man has a history of drunk driving dating back to 1997 through Lyndhurst Municipal Court. THEFT, GREAT NORTHERN SHOPPING CENTER: At 7:23 p.m. on Dec. 10, police were called to Chuck E. Cheese, 26104 Great Northern Shopping Center, for a report of a stolen wallet. A woman told police she went up to the ticket counter to purchase tickets for her children, and walked away from the counter without taking her wallet. About 15 minutes later, she realized her wallet was missing and went back to the counter. The wallet was gone. The restaurant and trash bins were searched, but the wallet was not found. Chuck E. Cheese has video surveillance, but it was not working at the time, according to reports. All the woman's credit cards have been deactivated. COUNTERFEIT MONEY, LORAIN ROAD:A woman went into Giant Eagle, 27264 Lorain Road, to purchase cigarettes. She gave the cashier a $5 bill for the cigarettes that was obviously counterfeit, according to reports. The woman told the cashier she received the $5 bill as change from McDonald's in Westlake. The woman left her name and phone number with Giant Eagle and police. OPERATING A VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LIQUOR, BERKSHIRE DRIVE:Police arrested a husband and wife at 1:25 a.m. Dec. 11 for driving under the influence. The woman was driving behind her husband and following him closely. Police saw the woman hit a curb and continue to drive. Both drivers were stopped by police. Police saw that they both had glassy eyes and slow motor skills. Field sobriety tests were performed on the couple, and they were found to be drunk. The man told police he had just gotten a new tattoo that night and they went out to the Stop On Inn for a few drinks. Police arrested the husband and wife for operating a vehicle while under the influence.

Suspect steals purse out of cart at Aldi's
FAIRVIEW PARKTHEFT, CENTER RIDGE ROAD At 2 p.m. on Dec. 1, an Aldi's shopper reported her purse was stolen out of her shopping cart. The items taken included credit cards and cash. Police suspect a black female who was observed running out of the store at the time of the incident. A surveillance video depicts the woman scooping up the purse into her umbrella. The suspect remains at large. The victim canceled her credit card accounts. FRAUD, LORAIN ROADAt 1 p.m. Friday, a resident reported to police that he received a notice from Staples stating an unpaid balance. He told police he didn't have an account with the store. Police found a temporary employee hired to perform clerical work by the victim may have opened the account without his permission. The bills are going to the 39-year-old women's address in Cleveland. Police have phoned the woman but she has not returned the call. VANDALISM, WEST 219 STREETAt 9 a.m. Saturday, a resident reported to police multiple dents had damaged the roof of her car. Police arrived to the scene and also discovered a shoeprint. Police suspect someone had jumped multiple times on the top of the car. The woman told police neither she nor her son have had any complaints or problems with anyone. DISTURBANCE, LORAIN ROADAt 9 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a motel where a female subject attacked a male subject with a rum bottle. Each subject was highly intoxicated as they battled against each other. A 23-year-old Lakewood woman told police the man failed to pay her for something, yet she would not reveal what it was. The man was covered in blood and fought with police. Police used a Taser on the 58-year-old man, who was then taken to Fairview General Hospital. The man threatened to kill a Cleveland police officer working security at the hospital. He was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting an officer. The woman was arrested and charged with felonious assault and she is wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department on an obstruction felony by Lakewood on a misdemeanor charge.
