ACCIDENT, INTERSTATE 480: The driver of a vehicle traveling east Saturday on I-480 reported hitting a deer. Police provided the driver with a late accident report. SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE, VAN EPPS ROAD:A suspicious vehicle was reported Saturday near the Conrail tracks. The man in the vehicle told police he was just a "train watcher." He was advised to vacate the area, and complied. WARRANT, TUXEDO AVENUE:A Cleveland man wanted on a warrant was turned over to the police department Saturday by Brooklyn police. DEBRIS, I-480:Police removed debris from the roadway Jan. 2 on I-480 East. Metal strips, which may have fallen from a passing truck, were moved off to the side of the road. DISABLED BUS, I-480:Police assisted the driver of a bus westbound on I-480 with a flat tire Jan. 1. The officer provided assistance and traffic control was maintained while tire was changed.

CLEVELAND BURGLARY, WEST SEVENTH STREET: Burglars hit the motherlode Dec. 25 at a home in the 2000 block of West Seventh. They got inside by smashing a side window. Taken was a Cardis Roadster watch, Paneri watch, Apple laptop computer, 30-inch Apple display screen, Sony PlayStation 3 game system and three flat-screen televisions measuring 55 inches, 42 inches and 37 inches. Total loss and damage was $31,000. ROBBERY, WEST 25TH STREET: It isn't often that a woman is arrested for robbery, especially one who took so much money. The 28-year-old Elyria woman was arrested Friday morning while in the 1900 block of West 25th. Taken was $8,190 in cash. BREAKING AND ENTERING, WEST 65TH STREET: Just after midnight Dec. 31, Kmart, 3250 W. 65th, was broken into. Three black men were seen on security video in the store. No other descriptions were available. Taken from the store were six digital cameras and a Samsung 32-inch TV worth $1,380 total. A glass case also was broken, causing $300 damage. ROBBERY, WEST 80TH STREET: A woman was robbed of her pink Clutch purse just after midnight Saturday while in the 1300 block of West 80th. In the purse was $250 cash, Ohio driver's license, Home Depot credit card, check cashing debit card and a Medicare card. ROBBERY, VALENTINE AVENUE: Police arrested two men, a 20-year-old West 149th Street resident and a 38-year-old East 64th Street man, after they allegedly robbed a victim of $400 cash at 8 p.m. Saturday at gunpoint. It happened at Valentine and West 17th Street. They fled in a 1992 Saturn which police stopped. The handgun was recovered. STOLEN CAR, HOLMDEN AVENUE: The good news is that a 2005 Jeep Liberty which was stolen Saturday from the 1600 block of Holmden was recovered. The bad news is that the sport utility vehicle was found completely burned out and a total loss. The SUV was valued at $8,900. FELONIOUS ASSAULT, ARDMORE AVENUE: A 24-year-old East 49th Street woman was arrested for assaulting an unidentified person with a 10-inch butcher knife on Saturday afternoon. It happened in the 4200 block of Ardmore. The victim suffered visible injuries and ruined a T-shirt. STOLEN CAR, LITERARY ROAD: On Sunday night, a 2005 Dodge Caravan was stolen from the 800 block of Literary block. The minivan was valued at $12,000. STOLEN CAR, TROWBRIDGE AVENUE: Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, a 1996 Chevy van was reported stolen from the 3300 block of Trowbridge. The van was carrying aluminum and fiberglass ladders. FELONIOUS ASSAULT, HIGHVIEW AVENUE: Major but unidentified injuries were suffered in a fight Friday afternoon at a home in the 3400 block of Highview. A 31-year-old man was arrested, police said. Officers recovered two kitchen knives. BURGLARY, MARCIE DRIVE: A home was entered Dec. 24 in the 4600 block of Marcie. Taken were 40 DVDs, 20 video games, an Acer computer, Sony PlayStation3 game system, two computer speakers, two subwoofers, Nike Shock sweaters, small filing cabinet and a KeyBank checkbook. Domestic violence arrest made at Hilliard Boulevard apartment
ROCKY RIVER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, HILLIARD BOULEVARD:At 2 p.m. Dec. 31, police arrested a 31-year-old Hilroc Apartment resident for domestic violence. The man and his wife had been arguing, and he hit her, according to reports. Police found the man sitting in his car in the parking lot and arrested him. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, RIVER OAKS DRIVE:A 67-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence on Friday after he hit his wife in front of the grandchildren. The woman and grandchildren had gone out shopping for the day, and had returned home to find the man drinking vodka. He began yelling at his wife, saying she had spent his retirement and rent money. The couple began fighting, and the man hit her, according to reports. He has a history of domestic violence. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, HILLIARD BOULEVARD:At 10:30 p.m. Sunday, police were called to an apartment complex for a report of domestic violence. Police found the victim sitting outside the Hilliard Boulevard complex and learned that the couple had been arguing about the woman's fidelity. She had a lump above her eye and a red mark on her chest. The woman told police her boyfriend had began fighting with her about their relationship. He grew violent and ripped the phone out of the wall and damaged other sections of the apartment. He was arrested for domestic violence, disrupting public service, disorderly conduct while intoxicated and criminal damaging.

MIDDLEBURG HTS. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:An Indian Creek Drive resident called police to report that his front lawn had been turfed. He described the car that had torn up the lawn, and his girlfriend suspected that the culprit was her ex-boyfriend.

BEREA THEFT:A cab driver called police the morning of Jan. 3 when a Clay Court man declined to pay the fare for his trip home from a Lakewood bar.

Employee faces theft charges for using stolen gift card
BEDFORD THEFT: A security officer at Target, 22735 Rockside Road took another employee into custody for theft on Friday after she stole another woman's $50 gift card. While working as a cashier on Dec. 23, the woman stole the card which had been inadvertently left behind by a customer. Over the next few days the cashier used the card to purchase various items. She was fired and charged with theft.

Ex-girlfriend reacts violently to seeing man's new woman
FAIRVIEW PARK DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROADAt 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 1, a 27-year-old Fairview Park man arrived at the Fairview Village Apartments to his ex-girlfriend's place of residence to pick up his toddler son during his visitation rights. The ex-girlfriend followed the man to his car, where she saw his new girlfriend sitting inside the vehicle. The ex-girlfriend began exchanging words and then punches with the new girlfriend. Once police arrived, the 27-year-old ex-girlfriend was charged with assault. She was booked and then released on a bond. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROADAt 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 2, police arrived to the Fairpark Apartments due to an argument that turned violent. Police found a 42-year-old female arguing with her 37-year-old boyfriend. Police found some evidence that the boyfriend had hit the girlfriend, however, both had denied any physical violence had took place. Police discovered the man had failed to appear in court for a traffic violation in Cleveland. He was arrested and turned over to the Cleveland Police Department. THEFT, WESTGATE SHOPPING CENTERAt 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, an employee reported to police her locker that held her belongings had been broken into and her wallet had been stolen from her purse. Police found the suspect to be a female customer who was given approval to use the employee restroom in the break room. Police were able to track down the suspect at her place of employment, where she turned herself in and returned most of the missing items. The 21-year-old Cleveland woman was charged with petty theft and was released on personal bond.

Four suspects sought in reported rape on West 117th Street
FIRST DISTRICT RAPE, WEST 117TH STREET: Police are looking for four people allegedly involved in raping a woman. Detectives have the name of one of the accused, a 28-year-old woman. Two others are white men, one of whom is about 34 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. The fourth person is unknown. The rape was reported at 2 a.m. Jan. 1 in the 3400 block of West 117th, according to a police brevity report. KIDNAPPING, WEST 91ST STREET: Four black men, all 19 or 20 years old, are accused of kidnapping an unidentified victim. Police have the identity of one of the men who lives in the 3300 block of West 99th Street. The kidnapping was reported Friday night in the 3400 block of West 91st. Police are investigating. CAR-JACKING, WEST 82ND STREET: Police are looking for two white men, both about 20 years old and 6 feet tall, who robbed a man of his 1993 Ford Explorer at 3 a.m. near West 82nd and Brinsmade Avenue. They later dumped the sport utility vehicle but kept his keys, wallet, $180 cash, debit card, Social Security card and cellular phone. BURGLARY, ALBERS AVENUE: Police have the identities of two of three people wanted for a Dec. 30 burglary in the 17000 block of Albers. One is a 37-year-old man and the other a 29-year-old woman. They lived at the victim's address. The third person was described as a white man about 35 years old and 5-foot-10. They smashed a window and took $400 cash plus a Motorola cell phone. DRUG POSSESSION, DENISON AVENUE: Police arrested a 37-year-old Denison man for having marijuana in seven small bags and one large bag. He was arrested just after midnight Sunday at Denison and West 91st Street. FELONIOUS ASSAULT, PURITAS AVENUE: On Saturday afternoon, a 57-year-old man who lives in a third-floor apartment in the 13600 block of Puritas was arrested for felonious assault. He allegedly used a hunting knife to stab some stereo speakers, smashed a shelf with glassware and a clock, plus a window to a basement door. The victim wasn't identified. DRUG POSSESSION, MADISON AVENUE: On Saturday afternoon, police arrested an 18-year-old Bosworth Road man for having bags of marijuana. He was arrested at Madison and West 100th Street. VANDALISM, WEST 95TH STREET: A 1993 Ford Ranchero pickup was vandalized Sunday evening while parked in the 3300 block of West 95th. The left passenger and rear windows were smashed. ROBBERY, ROCKY RIVER DRIVE: A 30-year-old black man, about 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, robbed the Neighbors' Choice grocer, 4483 Rocky River, at gunpoint. All he took was a 24-ounce can of Miller beer and a 40-ounce bottle of Cobra beer. ASSAULT, WILTON AVENUE: Police suspect a 34-year-old Wilton man for assaulting someone Sunday evening on his street. No injuries were reported. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WEST 105TH STREET: A 29-year-old man was arrested at his home Sunday afternoon in the 2100 block of West 105th for domestic violence. No injuries were reported. STOLEN CAR, WEST 116TH STREET: On Friday evening, a 49-year-old man living in the 3000 block of West 116th was charged with resisting arrest. It isn't known what his initial offense was. Several hours later, after he was released, the same man allegedly took the keys to a 1993 Ford Ranger and then took the pickup. STOLEN CAR, WEST 95TH STREET: On Saturday afternoon, a 2000 Dodge Caravan minivan was reported stolen from the 3100 block of West 95th. THEFT, WEST 92ND STREET: At 2 a.m. Friday, a 9mm handgun and $45 cash were stolen from a home in the 3200 block of West 92nd. No suspects. DOMESTIC DOMESTIC, WEST 114TH STREET: Police arrested a 55-year-old man for domestic violence when he went after an unidentified victim with a meat cleaver. The victim had visible injuries. It happened in the evening of Dec. 31 at a home in the 1300 block of West 114th.

It's lights out for two teens cruising after curfew
MEDINA TRAFFIC:A car stopped at 3:45 a.m. in the 900 block of West Smith Road had only one working headlight. The driver, a 16-year-old Fenn Road resident, and her passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Wooster, were both arrested for curfew violations, then released to their parents. THEFT:Two Miller inverter welders were stolen from the tool trailer after someone cut the locks off the trailer at the new water tower on Progress Road. SHOPLIFTING:A suspect tried to take two CDs out of a North Court Street store by concealing them inside a jacket. They were valued at a total of $29.98. TRAFFIC:A woman driving on North Huntington Street told police she was tailgated and that the driver of the other vehicle was making obscene gestures. She reported the license number to police, but the owner of the vehicle in question denied any knowledge of the incident. TRAFFIC:Police stopped a vehicle that was traveling left of center on Wadsworth Road. The 47-year-old Wadsworth Road resident was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving under a suspended license. DISTURBANCES:Police responded to a 2 a.m. fight in the parking lot of a North Court Street bar. A 24-year-old Longview Drive man was cited for disorderly conduct, and a 28-year-old Berea man was arrested and charged with persistent disorderly conduct, criminal damage and resisting arrest. FOUND PROPERTY:An unknown person left a camera on the front seat of a car parked in the parking lot of a Lafayette Road store. DISORDERLY CONDUCT:Police responded to a report of a man lying against a tree at Guilford Boulevard and East Smith Road. A 29-year-old Brunswick man was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. LOST PROPERTY:A woman left her purse in the dining room of a North Court Street restaurant. The store reported that after she left, an employee found the purse and placed it in the kitchen area, but the purse is now missing. The store manager was going to speak with the morning shift employees to determine what might have happened. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:An unknown vehicle drove over the curb at a West North Street residence, grazing the stop sign post and telephone pole. As the vehicle was leaving the scene, its rear driver's side tire was spinning, tearing the grass and leaving a mark on the street. TRAFFIC:A 36-year-old North Harmony Street woman was arrested for no automobile insurance as a result of a traffic stop. Her vehicle was towed, and the license plates were removed and entered into police property. She was taken to the police station, photographed, cited, given a court date and released. DEPARTMENT ASSIST:Police responded to a complaint of a gasoline/oil mix being dumped into the storm sewer system. Medina Fire Department responded to the scene and flushed the area. The incident was referred to the EPA and the city prosecutor for possible follow-up. CITIZEN ASSIST:A Fairfax Road woman complained that a private snowplowing company is getting too close to plowing snow onto her tall shrubs at the rear of her property. The snowplow driver said he is aware of her concerns and is doing his best to stay clear of the shrubs. CITIZEN ASSIST:A North Jefferson Street resident noticed smoke coming from the back of her refrigerator and called police. When the refrigerator was unplugged, the smoke ceased. The resident was advised to have her refrigerator serviced. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:The owner of a dark blue 2007 GMC Envoy found that someone had slashed a tire in the parking lot of a North Court Street business. LIQUOR VIOLATION:Police responded to an East Smith Road residence regarding a complaint of underage alcohol consumption. Officers found 23 people, none of whom were 21 years of age or older, drinking in vehicles and with open containers of alcohol. Five adults were cited and released, while 18 juveniles were taken to the police station and released to their parents. DISTURBANCE:A dispute between two men resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old Wadsworth resident on an active warrant from Akron Police Department. He was processed at the police station, then taken to Akron where he was incarcerated. BURGLARY:Subjects forced entry into a West Liberty Street business around 3 a.m. through a drive-through window shattered from the outside and left through a rear door that had been locked. A motion alarm sounded, but there was no call to the owner or the police department from the alarm company. The register was robbed of money, and beer and a T-shirt were taken. DISTURBANCE:Officers responded to the report of an altercation at a West Smith Road bar. A 19-year-old man there had a warrant for his arrest. He resisted arrest, and it was found he was in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. THEFT:Two duffel bags containing clothes and medication were stolen from an unlocked car at a Northland Street address. CRIMINAL DAMAGE:A screen door and door frame were damaged at the rear of a North Jefferson Street address. LIQUOR VIOLATION:Police responded to a West Homestead Street address and arrested two 18-year-olds, one a North Harmony Street resident and one from Oak Street, for obstructing official business. SERVE WARRANT:A 21-year-old South Court Street man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant through Medina Municipal Court. He was also arrested on a trafficking in drugs indictment through Medina County Common Pleas Court. TRAFFIC:A 22-year-old Lodi woman was arrested for driving under a suspended license. She was cited and released. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A Birch Hill resident had questions about her 18-year-old son talking back to her. Police advised her that she could tell him to find other living arrangements. TRAFFIC:A car was stopped on Birch Hill for no working license plate light. A K-9 officer alerted to the presence of narcotics, and the 25-year-old Birch Hill resident passenger was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was released on the scene with two summons. The driver was issued a written warning for the non-working plate light. DISTURBANCE:Two West Liberty Street women were involved in a physical fight. A 45-year-old West Liberty Street resident was arrested and charged with domestic violence. She was processed at Medina Police Department and incarcerated at the Medina County Jail. TRAFFIC:The 17-year-old driver of a car stopped at 1 a.m. on South Court Street for only one working headlight was arrested for curfew violation and taken home. TRAFFIC:A car with no license plate light was stopped at 1:43 a.m. on West Smith Road. A K-9 officer alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the interior of the vehicle revealed a plastic cellophane wrapper containing purported marijuana. A 27-year-old Dawn Court woman was arrested and charged with drug abuse.

Man faces felony charge for taking DVDs at Wal-Mart
PARMA GRAND THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man faces a felony theft charge after he was caught Sunday stealing more than $500 worth of DVDs from Wal-Mart at Parmatown Mall. The man reportedly covered the 31 DVDs with clothing and attempted to leave the store. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BROADVIEW ROAD:A 17-year-old boy threw a glass bottle at officers dispatched to his apartment about 5 a.m. Saturday. The teen reportedly assaulted his 18-year-old live-in girlfriend. Police said he was intoxicated. Marijuana and a pipe were found inside the residence. BURGLARY, RIDGE ROAD:A garden turtle was thrown into a glass door at Luchita's, 7431 Ridge Road. A burglar got inside but was unable to get into the cash register. INTOXICATION, PEARL ROAD: Someone called police Dec. 31 after seeing a man with a handgun in his car. Police ordered the 39-year-old man out of his car. The man was intoxicated and the weapon was a starter pistol. Police said that while handcuffed, the suspect intentionally used them to scratch a cruiser. THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:Two juveniles were arrested Dec. 30 for stealing merchandise valued at about $95 from Wal-Mart. THEFT, RIDGE ROAD:An 89-year-old woman reported Dec. 29 that someone stole her purse from her room at Pleasant Lake Villa. Cash and a Social Security card were in the purse. THREATS, GROVEWOOD AVENUE: A resident reportedly threatened a Cox Cable employee who went into his back yard Dec. 29 for a repair. The man told police he didn't understand why repairs would be necessary at night. No charges were filed. THEFT FROM AUTO, PEARL ROAD: Someone smashed a window out of a Dodge Stratus parked Dec. 28 outside Continuous Play Billiards, 5573 Pearl Road, and stole a GPS unit valued at $280. THEFT FROM AUTO, BERTHA AVENUE:The front passenger window of a Saturn Ion was smashed Dec. 28 and a GPS unit was stolen. THEFT FROM AUTO, ARDEN ROAD:Two male suspects reportedly stole a GPS unit and a concrete saw Dec. 28 from a truck that belongs to Columbia Gas. ASSAULT, CYPRESS WEST:A patient at EMH on New Year's Eve claimed he had been attacked by four people at an apartment complex and that someone hit him over the head with a beer bottle. PRISONER PROCESS/RELEASE:A juvenile was booked on auto theft charges and later released to his parents. ACCIDENT, ELM DRIVE:Somebody hit a parked car last week. The driver was cited. THEFT, DETROIT ROAD:A Dairy Mart employee was fired for stealing on Dec. 28. THEFT, DETROIT ROAD:A wallet was liberated from a shopper in Best Buy on Sunday. His cash and Best Buy gift card were stolen. TRESPASSING, EAST RESERVE CIRCLE:Four juveniles were caught playing paintball and screaming obscenities at a community pool on Dec. 27. They were advised about their behavior. TRAFFIC COMPLAINT, STONEY RIDGE ROAD:An officer pulled a car at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday for driving completely left of center and off the road. The driver explained that her boss had forced her to work a double the night before and that she was falling asleep at the wheel. The flashing blue and red lights were reportedly enough of a wake up call to get home safe. ROAD HAZARD, AVON-BELDEN ROAD:A caller reported that she hit a Christmas tree in the middle of the road on Saturday. The tree was later removed.

Missing teen found in police custody and not returned home
TWINSBURG UNRULY JUVENILE, RAVENNA ROAD:A boy, 17, apparently did not want to come home. That was three weeks ago, his father reported at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 30. The man had no idea where he could be. Saturday, Summit County deputies knew where he was -- in their custody. They found the boy at Sheetz, 2495 East Aurora Road, at 12:30 p.m. But they didn't return him home. He was wanted for violation of a juvenile court order. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center. COUNTERFEITING, DARROW ROAD:A patron at BP, 8775 Darrow, made away with items without really paying Saturday morning. Well, he or she paid -- with a bogus $20 bill. A manager found the bill as she counted the money at 7 a.m. Sunday. She knew immediately it wasn't real just by feeling it. An officer entered the bill into the evidence room. The case remains open. STOLEN VEHICLE, DARROW ROAD:A semi truck had been parked at All State Freight Dec. 24. So what was it doing on the exit ramp on westbound Interstate 90 at 11:30 a.m. Friday? Apparently it was stolen. A friend of the owner happened to be driving by there and noticed the abandoned vehicle. But when he called the owner, the owner had no idea it had left the yard, 8589 Darrow. Cleveland police met the owner at the exit ramp where he saw the truck minus its tires and rims and with damage. The truck was released to the man. BURGLARY, OLD MILL ROAD: A couple returned home at 5 p.m. Dec. 29 to find an empty space where their 42-inch plasma TV had been. Someone had entered their home -- with no force -- sometime after 12:30 p.m. and stolen the $2,200 TV. They told officers nothing else was taken or moved. Officers processed the scene. An investigation is pending. THEFT, CHAMBERLIN ROAD:A resident, 18, realized too late that not only was her wallet stolen, but her credit card was used three times. She reported at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 29 the theft and use at Giant Eagle here and in Garfield Heights and at a Red Box movie rental stand for a total of $229. Her wallet also contained another credit card, her Social Security number and her state ID card. Officers advised her to close her accounts. They have no suspects, but continue to investigate. FRAUD, OAKBROOK CIRCLE:Chopping up an unneeded credit card two years ago wasn't enough protection, a resident recently learned. Someone had used her account number to buy items totaling $389 from the Dillard's in Coral Springs, Fla. The woman reported at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 29 she had cut up the card on Jan. 2, 2007, but never called to cancel the account. She did so now and then received an ID theft packet from the officers. The case remains open. MARIJUANA POSSESSION, EAST IDLEWOOD DRIVE: Getting pulled over at 12:45 p.m. Dec. 28 was the least of a Cannon Road man's problems. The man, 23, had to explain why his car smelled of marijuana. He readily admitted having a jar of the drug and a glass pipe under the passenger seat. After finding them, the officers arrested the man for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, gave him a court date and released him. His two passengers were released without charges. The drug and pipe were confiscated as evidence. TWINSBURG TOWNSHIP WARRANT, HADDEN ROAD: A Twinsburg Township man, 23, was only a passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation at 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Case Street. But he's the one that got arrested. He was wanted for criminal trespassing by the county. He was taken to the Summit County Jail. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, MARWELL BOULEVARD: A man, 70, was not happy after seeing what was left of his mailbox at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 30. He said someone beat up his black metal mailbox and its post sometime after 4:45 p.m. An investigation is pending. CONTROL OF DOGS, NORTH KIRTLAND PLACE: A dog apparently didn't want to be tied down. As it walked with its owner, a 61-year-old man, at 9 p.m. Dec. 19, the dog broke from its leash and headed right for a neighbor's yard and dog. The upset owner of the injured dog called deputies at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 22. Although she refused to file formal charges, officers still gave the attack dog's owner a final warning.

The mailman was bitten on the hand by a dog running loose along Settlement Acres. VANDALISM:An unknown person spray-painted a red bow on the driver's side of a car. Damage is estimated at $700. ASSAULT:A female bartender at the Englebrook Tavern was reportedly punched in the face two or three times by a female customer. The suspect is from Cleveland. No arrest was made. DISORDERLY CONDUCT:A 47-year-old Brook Park man was arrested for yelling obscene and profane language while standing in the middle of Ledgewood Drive. VIOLATION:A female dancer at GiGi's Lounge, cited for violating the no touching ordinance while performing, was arrested because of an active warrant through the Cleveland police. A dancer at the Fox's Den also violated the ordinance. SHOPLIFTING:An intoxicated Brook Park man was arrested for stealing $29 worth of beer from the Marathon gas station on Smith Road. DISORDERLY CONDUCT:A Parma man was arrested for urinating in the Days Inn parking lot. DISORDERLY CONDUCT:An intoxicated Lakewood man was arrested after being observed by an officer stumbling and falling in the westbound lanes along Brookpark Road. Store clerk rings up discounts but keeps savings for herself
NORTH OLMSTED EMPLOYEE THEFT, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:An employee at Macy's had discounted numerous items for a customer and kept the customer's $100 gift card without the individual's knowledge. The employee had rung up a $168.34 sale then discounted all of the merchandise to a total of $20.83 without the customer realizing what she was doing. The employee told the customer she was paying $168.34 for the merchandise. The customer attempted to pay for the merchandise using two Macy's gift cards and a charge card. The employee spent the customer's gift card on several personal transactions, and also admitted to other Macy's thefts totaling $939.43. However, Macy's only wanted prosecution for the current theft. She was released on a $3,000 personal bond, and will appear in court. THEFT FROM AUTO, WESTFIELD GREAT NORTHERN MALL:Police have no witnesses or suspects in a Dec. 30 theft from an auto parked at Dicks Sporting Goods. The owner of the Ford Focus told police the car may have inadvertently been left unlocked. The driver's work bag was stolen. It contained several items including prescription eyeglasses, Clinique makeup, work keys from the Cleveland Clinic and personal checks from National City Bank. THEFT FROM AUTO, COUNTRY CLUB BOULEVARD:A couple went out to dinner at Lone Star Steakhouse and returned to their car to find it broken into. Someone had smashed the window out and stolen the global positioning system. No one was seen in the area and no footprints were available, according to reports. The GPS equipment is valued at $350. DISTURBANCE, STONEYBROOK ROAD:A resident living on Stoneybrook Road told police someone threw a large potted plant through the front side window of their home. The planter caused damage to the living room television. Police have no suspects. SQUEALING TIRES, LORAIN ROAD:Police pulled over a white Pontiac Trans Am because the driver was heard revving its engine and squealing the tires. The driver admitted to drinking a few beers that night, according to reports. He recorded a 0.207 percent blood-alcohol content and failed field sobriety tests, according to reports. Police charged him with squealing tires, operating a vehicle while impaired and a high blood-alcohol content. He was released on personal bond to a sober party. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LORAIN ROAD:An Arabic girl called police stating her father was going to kill her and that he had already punched her in the face. The girl had told her father she was going to work, but she had really spent the day with her boyfriend. Her father found out, and began yelling and smacking her. She told police in her culture girls are not allowed to date or have sex, according to reports. The girl was able to break free and run up to United Dairy Farmers to call police. She said her father threatened to take her back to Palestine and perform an "honor killing" to save their pride and reputation. Police arrested the man for domestic violence, and photos were taken of his bloody hand. TRAFFIC WEAVING, LORAIN ROAD:Police observed a white Ford Taurus weaving through lanes on Lorain Road and driving erratically. The driver was pulled over, and police immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol. The man exited his car and was very unsteady. He failed field sobriety tests and recorded a 0.188 percent blood-alcohol content. He was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, weaving and a traffic violation for yielding when entering the roadway.

Thieves come up empty with stolen tractor-trailer
BROOKLYN GRAND THEFT VEHICLE, BROOKPARK ROAD: Some bold and brazen burglars narrowly missed a big payday on Dec. 30 when the tractor-trailer they stole from Best Buy turned out to be empty. Workers at the store had just unloaded $2 million in electronics from the trailer before it was heisted using a tractor stolen earlier in the evening in Garfield Heights. Cleveland police recovered the stolen trailer and tractor near the Hinckley Industrial Park after locating them using a LoJack stolen vehicle recovery system. BREAKING AND ENTERING, FAIRWAY DRIVE: Parma police caught two men suspected in a series of break-ins Dec. 28 in the area of Fairway Drive and Autumn Lane. Callers told police unknown individuals tried to break into their tool sheds during the night. One resident reported his snowblower was stolen. Brooklyn officers processed footprints in a muddy area near one of the sheds. Later the following day, Parma police received a call about two suspicious men and arrested the suspects while they were towing a trailer filled with stolen snowblowers. Brooklyn investigators are looking in to possible charges against both suspects. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD: Police arrested a 19-year-old Cleveland man on Dec. 28 after workers at Super Kmart said he stole eight packages of playing cards valued at $31.92. While the suspect was sitting in the store's management office, workers found a small bag of marijuana on the chair behind him, but were unable to prove it was his. THEFT, CASCADE CROSSING: A caller told police on Dec. 29 that somebody broke into a vending machine in the laundry room at the Extended Stay America hotel and caused $100 in damage. The vandal got away with about $10 in merchandise and coins. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD: Police arrested a 19-year-old Cleveland man and a 17-year-old Cleveland boy on Dec. 28 and charged them with petty theft after workers there said they stole seven video games and a memory card from the electronics department. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, RIDGE ROAD: A 42-year-old man faces misdemeanor domestic violence charges after his girlfriend said he attacked her Dec. 29 in her apartment. The woman told police she argued with the man while he was drunk and during a physical struggle she cut her finger on a light bulb. Officers arrived a short time later to find the suspect hiding in an apartment next door. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD: Home Depot workers called police Dec. 31 after catching two men who were stealing tools there. The suspects, a 35-year-old Bedford man and a 30-year-old Twinsburg man were seen tossing electronics and tools valued at $146 under a fence in the store's garden center in order to retrieve them on the other side. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD: An unknown male got away with more than $100 in stolen DVDs and computer memory cards Jan. 2 following a struggle with Wal-Mart security workers. SHOPLIFTING, BIDDULPH ROAD: Police arrested a 63-year-old Cleveland woman on Jan. 3 and charged her with petty theft after workers at Giant Eagle said she stole $58 in food items from the store.

CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON, INTERSTATE 90At 11:29 a.m. on Dec. 30, a 30-year-old Cleveland man was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 90. The man had a warrant with Shaker Heights police. After a vehicle search, police found a 25-caliber handgun in the glove compartment. The man was given an arraignment on Dec. 31 and a $5,000 bond was set on the 10 percent plan. The man was charged with speeding and carrying a concealed weapon. He will appear back in court on Jan. 13. THEFT, DETROIT ROADOn Dec. 30, police received four reports of recreational vehicle thefts at a storage center. The incidents included a Rocky River man's 2007 Fourwinds RV, a Fairview Park man's Sun Cruiser RV, a 1993 Fleetwood RV and a Cleveland man's 2008 Palomino RV. ARSON, CAROLINE CIRCLEAt 12:34 a.m. on Dec. 31, a resident reported to a police a gazebo nearby had caught fire. After an investigation, local police and fire units discovered a glass jar with a candlewick near the scene. Police ruled the incident deliberate. No suspects have been named. THEFT, WESTECHESTER PARKWAYBetween 4-7:50 p.m. on Jan. 1, an apartment leasing office had been broken into. The items missing included a cordless drill, a flashlight, a computer monitor, two Motorola walkie-talkies, a digital camera and $180 in cash. Police estimated the minimum estimated value of the items totaled $755. Police found the office door had been pried open with an unknown tool. The report was called into police at 8:03 a.m. Jan. 2. THEFT, CLAGUE ROADAt 8:11 a.m. Jan. 2, a contractor for University Hospitals noticed a number of his tools were missing, including a ladder, a screw gun, a dry bench and a many screws. The value of the stolen items totaled $582. Police were told the items were last seen at 10 p.m. on Dec. 30. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, DETROIT AND BASSETT ROADSAt 6:19 p.m. on Jan. 2, a resident became suspicious when a short stocky man with dark hair tried to tamper with an apartment window inside the apartment. The man eventually fled the scene. Police were not called about the incident until the next morning. Police discovered a latex glove and a shoeprint in the snow measuring size 12.

VALLEY VIEW HARASSMENT, HATHAWAY ROAD:A Hathaway Road resident reported Dec. 30 that her 16-year-old son received harassing phone and text messages from a 17-year-old Independence male. Both boys were involved in a fight, and the Independence suspect's parents had filed a complaint against the Valley View resident for criminal mischief. The Valley View mother filed the report because of the continuing harassment. The Independence mother was told to tell her son to cease all communication with the Valley View resident. PROPERTY DAMAGE, INTERSTATE 480:A vehicle headed west Dec. 31 on the I-480 bridge was struck by a tarp from the truck in front of it. The woman's vehicle sustained damage to the front driver's side bumper. The driver thought she had written down the correct license number of the truck, but a dispatcher was unable to locate the owner based on her information.

He said several males offered to give him $5 if he would let them tackle him. He said no, but they tackled him anyway, then ran off. He was unhurt. REFUND DENIED:A woman had her eyebrows waxed Oct. 17 at a kiosk in Richmond Town Square and paid for the treatment. When her friend approached and told her she looked terrible, she demanded her money back and screamed and yelled when she was told no. A security guard restrained her to keep her from going after the employee, so she was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. BLAST OFF:A resident reported July 5 fireworks set off near Swetland Boulevard. Officers saw fireworks coming from a house, then saw a man lighting a bottle rocket. Officers confiscated six large cartons of fireworks and the man and his brother said there were no more. As officers got to the edge of the property, the man lit another firework, so he was arrested. LYNDHURST DRUNKEN BIKE RIDER:A Lyndhurst man, 45, was arrested for drunken driving on Croyden Road about 11 p.m. July 28 after harassing people and drinking alcohol while riding a bicycle. He was charged with having an open container of alcohol and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. ICY RECEPTION:A man working on Irene Road June 28 found a unique way to keep pesky pigeons away -- he was throwing ice cubes at the birds on power lines. He said he was trying to keep the pigeons -- and their droppings -- away from him while he was working. SPIDERS WHACKED:A woman with a case of arachnophobia reported Sept. 7 she saw two spiders in her car while driving on Irene Road. Officers came to the scene and killed the spiders. HIGHLAND HEIGHTS BURNING RUBBER AND HOUSE:An East Cleveland woman was stopped for speeding April 11 on Bishop Road by Wilson Mills Road. She also had a suspended license, but said the reason she was driving at all, and driving so fast, was her house was on fire. A check with East Cleveland police confirmed the fire. Her car was impounded and held for bond, and an officer drove her to her burning home. MAYFIELD HEIGHTS LOOK OUT BELOW:Two men threw bottles from a Mayfield Road apartment balcony April 27. Some hit other balconies, some broke on the garage floor. The men were cited and made to clean up the mess. NO SEATS AVAILABLE:A man rode an RTA bus Dec 3, but refused to let anyone get on or off the bus by either door. He finally exited by Golden Gate Plaza, but said he would get back on the bus later. He was located a couple hours later, walking on Mayfield Road, and arrested for disorderly conduct. SOUTH EUCLID . . . THE MICE WILL PLAY:A Prasse Road woman returned from a trip to Europe Nov. 2 and found dresser drawers open in her bedroom and $1,350 in jewelry and coins missing. She left her son, 19, in charge of the home while she was gone. He told her while she was gone, he hosted some card parties. He said he could not vouch for all the attendees. HANKERING FOR A HOT DOG:A man, 43, wanted a hot dog in a bad way -- really bad. He entered Speedway, 4549 Mayfield Road, at 2:30 a.m. one early January morning. He was highly intoxicated.

WESTLAKE BREAKING AND ENTERING, WESTCHESTER PARKBetween 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, a 26-year-old Westchester Park woman reported her previous boyfriend broke into her apartment and made off with some of her furniture. The door was not damaged but the lock had been torn off. Certain items of furniture were missing. Police later found out 28-year-old Strongsville man had lived in the apartment until a few months ago and still had a key. The man told police the furniture he took belonged to him. The man and woman agreed to work on a solution and no criminal charges were issued. THEFT, CROCKER PARKAt 3:08 p.m. on Dec. 16, a Crocker Park clothing store told police an employee committed several thefts while employed with the company. The 18-year-old Westlake woman admitted to the thefts after she was interviewed by the store loss prevention investigator and an officer. She told officials she would select the clothing she liked, remove the sensors and walk out of the store wearing the clothing. The woman returned almost every piece of clothing and later was arrested for stealing. THEFT, DETROIT ROADOn Dec. 19, police received a call from a womens' clothing store reporting a theft that occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. Police were told a white female entered the store and began browsing. She then picked up a wallet and carried it around with her. The woman then left the store with the wallet, valued at $195. A clerk noticed the wallet missing and reviewed the security tapes to find the woman leaving the store with the wallet. THEFT, DETROIT ROADOn Dec. 16, an employee reported that her place of business had been struck by theft. She said that while her vehicle was parked at the business, a thief must have entered into it because items in the vehicle had been shuffled around. However, only a bank deposit slip was missing from the vehicle. She notified her bank and was later informed that a company check was used at a store in Indiana. According to police, the crooks had used the deposit slip to create a fraudulent check to purchase $2,721 worth of merchandise. An investigation is pending. THEFT, DETROIT ROADAt 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, a food delivery service driver reporter her truck had been broken into and $700 worth of meat had been taken. The driver had just completed a delivery at a Detroit Road restaurant and was inside working out a payment with the manager. The driver told police when she returned to the truck a few minutes later, she noticed the truck's side door was open. She then realized the items had been stolen.

FIRST DISTRICT BURGLARY, ASTOR AVENUE: A burglar hit the jackpot sometime before the midnight Dec. 18. That's when a homeowner discovered his house in the 12600 block of Astor was entered. Taken was a lock box which contained $8,000 cash and $4,000 worth of jewelry. To add insult to injury, the burglar also took a $200 digital camera. Police are investigating. FELONIOUS ASSAULT, LORAIN AVENUE: On Dec. 21, a 59-year-old West 157th Street man was arrested for felonious assault. Police found two folding knives and a Zippo lighter. No other details were available. GRAND THEFT, LORAIN AVENUE: Someone working Dec. 13 at CVS Pharmacy, 11702 Lorain, discovered that 160 purple Totes shoe rubbers were stolen. They were valued in total at $4,000. There are no suspects. DRUG POSSESSION, LORAIN AVENUE: A man walked into a clothing store Dec. 20 and walked out as an accused felon. In between, he tried to shoplift two packs each of socks and shirts from A.J. Wright, 10756 Lorain. Granted, that's not a felony. But when police patted him down, they found heroin in his possession. In it was $130 cash, driver's license and lots of credit and bank cards -- KeyBank debit card, KeyBank Mastercard, Bank of America Visa, Macy's, Dillards, Sears, J.C. Penney's, Dress Barn, Fashion Bug and Shell gas card. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, TRISKETT ROAD: A 50-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence Dec. 16 at an apartment in the 14400 block of Triskett. Police seized his 1993 Opel Corsa and took photos of injuries to the victim who wasn't identified. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ROCKY RIVER DRIVE: Police arrested a 20-year-old east side woman for domestic violence after an argument turned violent Dec. 16 in the 4500 block of Rocky River. A glass table top was smashed and a cell phone stolen. ARSON, WEST 140TH STREET: When some excited boy felt the Christmas spirit Dec. 19, he decided to light a roll of toilet paper on fire in the men's bathroom at John Marshall High School, 3952 W. 140th. The incident was listed as arson in police brevity reports. No damage was done. BURGLARY, PURITAS AVENUE: More than $7,000 worth of items were stolen Dec. 19 from a home in the 18500 block of Puritas. The burglar or burglars got inside by breaking a window on a side door. Taken was a .22-caliber firearm, Olympus digital camera, Dell desktop computer, antique platinum ring with two diamonds and a jewelry box containing earrings, rings and other expensive jewelry. THEFT FROM CAR, DENISON AVENUE: A 2001 Chrysler Caravan was broken into Dec. 20 while parked in the 9700 block of Denison. In the minivan was a Garmin global positioning system, Craftsman socket set, Craftsman electric generator and $1,000 worth of compact discs. FORGERY, EDGECLIFF AVENUE: Police arrested a 45-year-old Gramatan Avenue man for forgery after he was allegedly found in possession of illegal prescriptions. It was reported Dec. 18 at an address on Edgecliff. DRUG POSSESSION, WEST 117TH STREET: A plastic bag with crack cocaine in its was recovered from a 28-year-old Astor Avenue man. He was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Dec. 21 from the 3400 block of West 117th. COUNTERFEIT CASH, LORAIN AVENUE: Police arrested two east side brothers Dec. 17 at CVS Pharmacy, 13027 Lorain, for having four counterfeit $20 bills. No other information was available. STOLEN MINIVAN, WEST 131ST STREET: On Dec. 20, a resident reported the theft of her 1996 Dodge Caravan minivan from the 3400 block of West 131st.

BURGLARY, SOUTH POINT DRIVE:A resident reported that someone forced entry to their home and stole many items. CONCERN, BEACHWOOD AVENUE:A resident called police on Dec. 20 after receiving a call from her children that their father was intoxicated and falling asleep at the wheel on their way to Beachwood. The man has warrants for a hit and skip incident and for child endangering. Because the man owns firearms and had not been picked up by Brooklyn police, extra patrols of the Avon Lake mother's home were requested. THEFT, COMMUNITY DRIVE:Main Street Care Center reported the theft of narcotics on Dec. 24. FRAUD, WALKER ROAD:A resident reported theft from their bank account on Christmas Eve. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, WALKER ROAD:Four vehicles were damaged in the McCarthy's parking lot on Christmas. HIT AND SKIP, ELECTRIC BOULEVARD:An accident in the intersection on Electric and Avon-Belden Road caused a lot of debris and traffic problems on Dec. 22. One of the vehicles fled toward Parkview and got away, and the other vehicle was towed. HIT AND SKIP, LEAR ROAD:A Stop 45 Tavern patron hit another car and left the scene on Dec. 21. The driver was operating a blue minivan and fled westbound, possibly to Lorain. UTILITIES, YODER BOULEVARD:A water main broke on Christmas. The utility company was notified. ASSIST, SOUTH POINT DRIVE:The fire department was called to assist a female with a water main break in her home on Dec. 23. The water was shut off and a plumber responded. HIT AND SKIP, LEAR ROAD:A vehicle left the scene after an accident on private property. CRIMINAL MISCHEIF, DELLWOOD ROAD:At least seven parked cars were egged last week. Cars were targeted on Inwood Boulevard, Parsons Drive, Moorewood Avenue and Ashwood Drive. DISTURBANCE, LAKE ROAD:Police responded to a fight at Johnny Malloy's on Dec. 20 and ended up driving one of the subjects home. Crook arrested after turning charity device into taking tree
BROOKLYN THEFT, NORTH AMBER DRIVE: A smooth-talking Grinch spent the Christmas weekend in jail after police arrested him for stealing from a local church. On Christmas Eve a parish worker spotted the 38-year-old Cleveland man in the church lobby. The worker recognized the man as an individual suspected of stealing $70 in items from the church's Giving Tree on two previous occasions. When the suspect left the church, the parish worker called police, who apprehended him on Roadoan Road a short time later. The suspect gave police a false name at first, before he was eventually identified. Officers charged him with petty theft and obstruction. He was given a $500 bond and spent the holiday and the rest of the weekend in the city jail. GRAND THEFT, BROOKPARK ROAD:A Brooklyn man told police on Dec. 22 that somebody stole several power tools valued at $1,000 from his truck while it was parked in the Home Depot lot. BREAKING AND ENTERING, DELORA AVENUE:A woman told police Dec. 22 her ex-boyfriend broke into her garage and stole stereo parts and compact discs from two cars parked there. FRAUD, BROOKPARK ROAD:Wal-Mart workers told police a 25-year-old Cleveland man tried to pass a counterfeit traveler's check for $500 at the store. The suspect told police he was the victim of an Internet scheme related to the posting of his resume on careerbuilder.com. Police did not charge the man, and forwarded the information to federal authorities. SHOPLIFTING, RIDGE ROAD:A 19-year-old Cleveland woman faces petty theft charges after workers at Famous Footwear said she stole a pair of $75 Nike sneakers from the store. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD:Workers at Wal-Mart stopped a Cleveland woman on Dec. 22 after watching her steal $71 in CDs from the store. THEFT, MEMPHIS AVENUE:A truck driver at USF Holland told police Dec. 23 that somebody smashed the passenger side window of his truck and stole a global positioning system valued at $130. ASSAULT, MEMPHIS AVENYE:A 20-year-old Brooklyn man told police Dec. 23 that a man who was living in his apartment beat him up when he was asked to move out. The victim suffered a concussion from the beating. Prosecutors are looking into assault charges against the 38-year-old suspect. BURGLARY, OUTLOOK DRIVE:A resident told police somebody broke into his home and stole video games and a bottle of liquor. BURGLARY, CENTURY CIRCLE:Police are looking for a suspect who stole an $800 Craftsman snow blower from a garage on Dec. 23. SHOPLIFTING, BROOKPARK ROAD:Police arrested a 30-year-old Cleveland woman after workers at Wal-Mart said she stole $76 in lingerie on Dec. 23 by concealing it with her purse in a shopping cart.

Drunk arrested after striking wife with tube of gift paper
BROOK PARK DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:A Brook Park man spent Christmas Eve in jail after he came home intoxicated and started arguing and abusing his wife. The man first struck his wife with his fist, and then he grabbed a tube of wrapping paper and struck his wife in the back with it several times. THEFT:Valley Freightliner reported losing $2.2 million after purchasing trucks that were never delivered. The case has been referred to the FBI. CHILD ENDANGERMENT:A man was issued a summons for leaving his two children -- a 1-year-old and a 10-year-old -- in the car unattended in 7 degree weather for more than 10 minutes while he shopped at Marc's Deeper Discount Store. SHOPLIFTING:A 35-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested for attempting to steal Kool-Aid, mayonnaise, ice cream toppings, vegetable oil and dish soap from Giant Eagle. ASSAULT:A Brook Park man was arrested for assaulting his daughter's boyfriend. The woman, 19, had invited the friend to her home. Her father did not approve of the way the man, 20, touched his daughter's shoulder, so he attacked the man with a closed fist and kicked him in the head. CRIMINAL STIMULATION:A 15-year-old attempted to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit $50 bill at the Circle K on Engle Road. THEFT:A car was reported stolen from the Greater Cleveland Auto Auction on Engle Road. DISORDERLY CONDUCT:Two people were excessively drunk in front of Harpo's. They resisted arrest when police tried to apprehend them. One was from Lorain and the other from Cleveland.

Employee fakes owner's name to steal money from business
NORTH RIDGEVILLE FORGERY, CENTER RIDGE ROAD:The owner of Coldwell Banker Hunter Realty reported that one of his employees had been forging his signature on checks and cashing them since September, stealing about $3,800. Theft, forgery and illegal use of credit card reports were made on Dec. 17. ACCIDENT, ROOT ROAD:Police determined that a man who had been involved in an accident on Dec. 21 was driving under the influence of alcohol. During an inventory of his vehicle, police discovered drug paraphernalia and rolling papers. He was arrested and booked in jail for not being able to post the required bond. BURGLARY, AVALON DRIVE:A victim's house was burglarized and damaged on Dec. 11. About $1080 was stolen, the house was egged and two vehicles in the attached garage were scratched several times. A report was taken. STOLEN VEHICLE, SUGAR RIDGE ROAD:A man reported that his utility trailer was stolen on Dec. 1. The trailer is valued at $700. A report was taken on Dec. 11. CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA, MARSH PLANE:While officers were at residence to retrieve items from a burglary, they found numerous handmade drug paraphernalia as well as marijuana plants that the juvenile defendant was cultivating. He was referred to juvenile court. BREAKING AND ENTERING, CENTER RIDGE ROAD:The owner of Blue Barn Antiques reported a breaking and entering incident where several items were stolen. On Dec. 14, the following morning, a juvenile admitted to the break-in and the property was recovered. The juvenile was referred to juvenile court for stealing a laptop computer, a cell phone and two guitars. ACCIDENT, BROAD ROAD:A subject drove off the road on Dec. 20 and found himself in a ditch outside a local residence. The subject was taken to the station where he was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxication, excess blood-alcohol content and failure to maintain reasonable control. Once he sobered up he was released without bond. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE INTOXICATED, LORAIN ROAD:A driver was pulled for failure to stay between marked lines and was cited for OVI. The man was also cited for resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. He was booked in jail for having several warrants. POSSESSION OF DRUGS, ROUTE 83:A driver was stopped for an equipment violation on Dec. 20 and was found to be in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and hydrocodone. The driver was issued criminal charges and was released on the scene. OVI, MILLS CREEK LANE:A driver was stopped for failure to stay between marked lanes and was cited for driving with a suspended driver's license and for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the station, processed and released. OVI, ROUTE 83:A man was stopped on Dec. 20 for driving more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol with an excess blood-alcohol content. The vehicle was released to a passenger and the driver was later released from the station. BEDFORD HEIGHTS THEFT: Two Maple Heights men were arrested after they stole $380 from The Car Wash, 5195 Northfield Road. One of the men was apparently a former employee of the business who thought covering his face would keep him from being recognized. He was wrong.

Fire on holiday shuts down part of Detroit Road in Avon
AVON FIRE, DETROIT ROAD:A detached garage caught on fire on the Dec. 24 and was soon engulfed in flames. Detroit was closed between Nagel and Joseph roads while the fire department handled the incident. ACCIDENT, SCHWARTZ ROAD:A woman involved in an accident at Napa Boulevard and Schwartz Road last week was taken to the hospital for back injuries. ACCIDENT, CHESTER ROAD:A hit and run offender with a suspended licensee and a drove his vehicle off the road by on Dec. 24. He hit a guardrail and took out some signs while exiting the highway at Avon-Belden Road. His car was towed and he was arrested. BREAKING AND ENTERING, BIRCH LANE:Between $200-$400 in damage was done to the rear door of a business on Dec. 22, though nothing else seemed to be damaged or tampered with. WELFARE CHECK, KENWYN BOULEVARD:A woman became worried about her nephew during a phone conversation last week. He told her he was going to get a drink of water, but never came back to the phone. She requested a squad to check up on him due to his health issues and they found him on the floor, responsive but incoherent. He was taken to St. John West Shore Hospital and his aunt was advised. THEFT, NAGEL ROAD:A Buick LaSabre was entered on Dec. 22 and a man's identification, copies of registration and insurance were taken along with $10 in change. The man was advised to keep an eye on his financial situation. Police received complaints of other thefts from unlocked vehicles on Cherry Street from about the same time. DISORDERLY CONDUCT, JOSEPH STREET:A father called police to advise that his son was out of control and threatening family members. Police arrested the man and took information for a report. PROPERTY DAMAGE, LORIE BOULEVARD:Sometime during the night of Dec. 19, a four wheel drive vehicle drove through a resident's yard and tore down a bunch of their Christmas decorations. HIT AND SKIP PEACH DRIVE:A vehicle operated left of center at about on Dec. 23, damaging another vehicle. Police filed a hit and skip report. HIT AND SKIP, DETROIT ROAD:A Costco employee's gold Ford Explorer was struck while he was working on Dec. 23. There was damage to the vehicle, but no information contact was left at the scene. BREAKING AND ENTERING, NORTH DOOVYS STREET:A house was broken into while a woman was house sitting. A report was taken on Dec. 22. THEFT, HEALTHWAY DRIVE:A man getting treatment at the EMH Center for Health and Fitness reported that his wallet was stolen from his locker. SUSPICOUS VEHICLES KERBS ROAD:Multiple vehicles got stuck on private property on Christmas day. A tow truck was called after subjects attempted to pull one vehicle out of the mud and got stuck themselves. They were warned about driving on private property and told to attain written permission in the future. PROPERTY DAMAGE, MAPLERIDGE BOULEVARD:A resident watched a vehicle take out the light post in her front yard last week. Unfortunately, she didn't get a plate or a description of the vehicle. Friend' swipes boy's stash of cash from holiday gathering
TWINSBURG THEFT:An invite to a friend's house here on Dec. 23 apparently meant more than just socializing for someone. That was evident when the resident, 17, went to retrieve his cash box the next morning. The locked box and the stash of cash inside -- totaling $1,500 -- were gone. The box wasn't out in the open or easy to see, the boy told police at 1:30 p.m. Friday. He also said five friends had been in the house Dec. 23. Officers are investigating. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, TWIN HILLS: A decorative light pole here didn't survive a collision by an unknown vehicle on Dec. 24. A motorist noticed the downed pole on the road near Burridge Circle at 5:15 a.m. and called police. An officer took pictures of the damaged pole and tire marks in the grass next to it. He moved the pole off the road and contacted the city's service department. DISABLED MOTORIST, SHEPARD ROAD: A Macedonia man, 18, had some difficulty staying on the road at 2:15 a.m. Dec. 24, but only because of newly formed ice there. That ice caused him to slide off the road and onto a nearby front yard. He was able to get back onto the road and promised police he would contact the property owner about the damage to the lawn. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, EAST AURORA ROAD:Was a Chrysler employee so distraught over being laid off that he or she turned on the valves of 19 propane tanks inside the plant? That's a possibility, according to a company security supervisor, who called police at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23. He said the tanks, 10 of which were completely empty, were last seen shut off at noon Dec. 19. He was unable to estimate the loss, but said more attention would be paid to the area. MARIJUANA POSSESSION, RIDGEWOOD DRIVE: The city doesn't allow parking on any street, so when an officer saw two cars parked with passengers inside one of them at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 22, he had to stop. As he turned his cruiser around to investigate, two men, a Ridgewood Drive man, 18, and Briardale Court man, 20, got out of the back seat of one car, headed for a house here. The men did turn around at the officer's request. Then they admitted they had been drinking, answering another query. They were charged with underage prohibitions.

NORTH OLMSTED OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, BROOKPARK ROAD:A man will likely be charged with driving under the influence after his urine sample is returned to the police department. Police pulled the man over on Dec. 22 because he was weaving through lanes and ignoring stop lights. The man failed field sobriety tests and was unable to record an accurate breath sample. The man was blocking the mouthpiece while he was blowing into the machine, according to reports. Police took the man to St. John West Shore for a urine sample. The sample will be ready in approximately five days. Police found a total of 12 suspensions on the man's license, with all but one still open. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, BROOKPARK ROAD:An officer was on patrol in the area of Lorain and Brookpark roads, and noticed a white Ford Taurus weaving through traffic. The driver went through a red light and made a sudden stop in the middle of an intersection. Police pulled the driver over and noticed a smell of alcohol coming from the car. The man told police he had two beers. Police administered field sobriety tests, which the man failed. He recorded a 0.188 percent blood-alcohol content, according to reports. The man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, blood-alcohol content more than the legal limit, weaving and yield entering the roadway. He will appear in court. The man was released on two $3,000 personal bonds. DISABLED VEHICLE, COLUMBIA ROAD:Police were called to Columbia Road where a Ford Expedition was facing eastbound in a home's tree lawn. The man got out of his car and police noticed a strong smell of alcohol. The man admitted to police that he had eight beers. When police asked the man if he had ever been arrested for drunk driving before, the man stated, "yes, once in Cleveland I believe." The man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk driving. He recorded a 0.198 percent blood-alcohol content. Police issued tickets to the man for failure to control, operating a vehicle while impaired and a high blood alcohol content. He has one prior drunk driving conviction. OPERATING A VEHICLE WHILE IMPAIRED, INTERSTATE 480:An officer reported a man passed out in a black truck on the Interstate 480 off-ramp at Clague Road. Police approached and found the man slumped over on the passenger's side. The man would not wake up, so police opened his unlocked truck door. The truck was not in park and was remaining still because the man's foot was on the brake. There was a very strong odor of alcohol inside the truck cab. After several attempts, the man finally woke up and began mumbling something unintelligible. When police asked him if he knew where he was, the man stated, "south Akron." He was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired and recorded a 0.121 percent blood-alcohol content. He will appear in court. THEFT, LORAIN ROAD:At 11:51 a.m. Dec. 22, police arrested a woman for theft after T.J. Maxx security caught her shoplifting $89.97 of merchandise. When police asked the woman why she was stealing, she said needed to get presents for the kids, according to reports. The woman has a history of thefts and a conviction for failure to comply with police.

Sibling rivalry sparked by pair of shoes
ROCKY RIVER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, STRUHAR DRIVE:At 9 p.m. Dec. 24, police responded to a Struhar Drive residence for a report of domestic violence. A 23-year-old man had gotten into a shoving match with his sister over a pair of shoes, according to reports. The man kicked his sister's left arm, slammed her onto the floor and threw a beer bottle against the wall. The man was arrested for domestic violence and disorderly conduct while intoxicated, according to reports. CREDIT CARD FRAUD, NORTHVIEW ROAD:For the past few weeks, a Northview Road resident was erasing what she thought were messages from telemarketers on the home answering machine. The phone calls were actually from credit card companies reporting several large purchases made on a handful of different credit cards. The credit card purchases were made on cards in one of the resident's names. Police are investigating. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, HAMPTON ROAD:A man was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated at 1:50 a.m. Dec. 26. The man's girlfriend reported he had a 12-pack of beer. The woman showed no signs of impairment and told police her boyfriend had not made any physical threats towards her.

COMPLAINT, COHASSETT AVENUE:A caller saw a suspicious male walking down the street, shining a flashlight into parked cars at 11:17 p.m. Dec. 21. The man was a bail bondsman looking for someone. ROBBERY, WATERBURY AVENUE:A 17-year-old male stated he was robbed of $8 by two men at 4:31 p.m. Friday. They were last seen running down Athens Avenue. PETTY THEFT, DETROIT AVENUE:A man was advised that he is no longer allowed in a store after shoplifting at 2:17 p.m. Friday. THEFT, MADISON AVENUE:A man lost his money and identification cards in the bathroom of a restaurant at 11:06 a.m. Friday. DANGEROUS DRUGS, CARABEL AVENUE:A man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile at 1:27 a.m. Friday. A juvenile was also charged with breaking curfew. CRIMINAL DAMAGING, GLENBURY AVENUE:A man reported that someone broke into his vehicle though the rear window at 12:34 a.m. Friday. She was upset because the caller told her she was being rude for calling a store employee an inappropriate name. Police were unable to locate the woman. DISTURBANCE, WINCHESTER AVENUE:A caller stated that there were three juveniles outside her house that want to beat her up at 2:50 p.m. Dec. 22. The juveniles were asked to leave and not return. MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, I90 EAST:Four cars spun out at 9:35 a.m. Dec. 22. A later caller stated that 7 cars spun out in total. One car that hit the wall was towed. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, DETROIT AVENUE:The window on a door was broken out overnight on Dec. 22. RESISTING ARREST, ROBINWOOD AVENUE:A male who broke out a window at a bar on Madison Avenue was charged with intoxication and resisting at 4:03 a.m. Dec. 22. ANIMAL LOST, PARK ROW AVENUE:A border collie with a red collar and tags was reported missing at 9:56 p.m. Dec. 23. GRAND THEFT VEHICLE, MADISON AVENUE:A vehicle was reported stolen at 8:47 p.m. Dec. 23. COMPLAINT, FRANKLIN BOULEVARD:A woman was seen jumping in and out of traffic, possibly trying to hurt herself at 5:44 p.m. Dec. 23. PETTY THEFT, DETROIT AVENUE:A gas station patron drove off with $20 worth of gas at 1:59 p.m. Dec. 23. A store employee called the owner but they kept hanging up on her. There was a language barrier and someone came to translate and pay for the gas. COMPLAINT, ELBUR AVENUE:A blue Christmas tree was reported stolen from a front yard at 9:00 a.m. Dec. 23. CRIMINAL DAMAGING, ELBUR AVENUE:A car window was broken out and items were taken from the vehicle overnight on Dec. 23. DISTURBANCE, RIDGEWOOD AVENUE:A woman stated that the man living next door to her was outside yelling profanity and threatening her at 12:44 p.m. Dec. 24. The two had gotten into an argument over money. CRIMINAL DAMAGING, CLIFTON BOULEVARD:A global positioning system was reported stolen at 11:53 a.m. Dec. 24. CRIMINAL DAMAGING, MADISON AVENUE:A car door lock was found smashed in at 10:22 a.m. Dec. 24. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, THOREAU AVENUE:A woman stated that her boyfriend attacked her and another male with a knife at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 25. The man was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence and intoxication as well as a warrant in another police department.

Theft investigation follows report of missing store deposits
NORTHFIELD VILLAGE THEFT: An employee at Dollar General, 10333 Northfield Road, reported the theft of more than $1,300 from an envelope containing two days worth of store deposits.

Three women, five girls cuffed for Christmas Eve cat fight
RICHMOND HEIGHTS DISTURBANCE, RICHMOND ROAD:Police were called to a large fight Dec. 24 in front of the Wet Seal store at Richmond Town Square. Two women were shopping, each accompanied by a daughter and several friends, all from Cleveland. The two women began fighting, and all the friends jumped in. When officers arrived, security personnel had separated the combatants. Three women and five girls were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Afterward, two girls grabbed one person's coat and purse and put it in their car. They were also charged with theft. DISTURBANCE, RICHMOND ROAD:Two families, each with three people, got into an argument Friday at Finish Line, at Richmond Town Square. The daughter from one family had a child by the son from the other family. Security personnel separated the families, and allowed the son's family to complete their purchase. As they were leaving, a woman from the other family made an obscene gesture. She was arrested for disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor because she had been warned. When she was searched, officers found a razor blade, so she was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor. THEFT, RICHMOND ROAD:Two girls, 15, from Euclid and Cleveland, put shirts in a bag at Sears. They were stopped as they left. One took two shirts, worth $20, the other six shirts, $60. The second girl also lied about her identity, and was charged with falsification. THEFT FROM AUTO, RICHMOND ROAD:A woman parked her car next to a Hyundai by Regal Cinema about 5 p.m. Sunday, then noticed the rear window was broken out. Police left a note for the owner, who bound that someone had taken $1,625 in computer equipment from the car. THEFT, RICHMOND ROAD:A Victoria's Secret manager reported 240 pairs of panties were taken sometime during business hours Sunday. She did not discover the theft until she opened the store Monday. The panties were valued at $2,040. AUTO THEFT, RICHMOND PARK: A woman noticed her 1997 Lexus missing from its parking space by her apartment Dec. 23, and reported it the next day. She had parked the car several days before. GRAND THEFT, RICHMOND ROAD: A woman took $728 in merchandise Dec. 24 at JC Penney, took the items into the fitting room, and walked out carrying a large, bulky bag. When she was stopped, but she was combative and uncooperative, lying on the ground, yelling obscenities and banging her head on the floor. She continued yelling obscenities and speaking irrationally at the station, so she was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Grand theft charges will be filed with the grand jury. HIGHLAND HEIGHTS THEFT, WILSON MILLS ROAD: Three people walked out of Denny's Saturday without paying their tab. They got into a car, but officers stopped them in the parking lot and arrested two females and one male for theft. The driver was also cited for driving without a license and physical control. THEFT, BISHOP ROAD:Someone took wire Friday from inside the Aberdeen Commons construction site. THEFT, WILSON MILLS ROAD:A man in a black SUV drove off without paying for gas Dec. 22 at Marathon.
