After over half a year of free shows, the "Cleveland Sessions" event came to an end Wednesday night (Nov. 5) when The Ohio Sky and Red Giant played to a somewhat empty house at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Both bands are associated with local promotions group Straight Razor Entertainment.
Kicking off the evening was the shoegazer-heavy sounds of The Ohio Sky, which began their set with the driving "Stars and Skies." Featuring a Swervedriver-inspired approach, the quartet - Vince DiFranco (vocals, guitars), Mike Drury (bass, vocals), Eric Bambic (drums, vocals) and Pat Finnegan (sound manipulation, moog) - created a sonic landscape built primarily around mind-blowing jams.

Unlucky number 13 proved magical with the 13th "Cleveland Sessions" event, which featured the Suede Brothers and User Sets Mode Wednesday night (Oct. 22) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The evening began with the Suede Brothers, who in a nutshell rocked the joint and left the crowd dazed and confused. With a power trio-sound that bridged the gap between Cream and Wolfmother (including a hint of The Black Keys), the youthful act provided a solid blues rock experience and a tight set filled by way of heavy riffs, bombastic percussion and low-end bass extravagance.

Blues-rockin' Suede Brothers, pop-punk User Sets Mode in Cleveland Sessions spotlight at Rock Hall
by Plain Dealer
Friday October 17, 2008, 9:10 AM

Wednesday's Cleveland Sessions showcase features the bluesy-rock sound of the Suede Brothers and the rock/pop-punk stylings of User Sets Mode. The performance is at 7 p.m. at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. You can watch the action live for free at the Rock Hall or by returning to this page.
The Suede Brothers are drummer Mick Varga, bassist Kevin Naughton and vocalist-guitarist Dylan Francis. They play a guitar-heavy brand of power-trio music they call Rust Belt rock.
Inspired by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Radiohead and The White Stripes, the threesome continues to build a local following.

Rock Hall Showcases Hip-Hop/R&B with 'Cleveland Sessions'
by John Benson

A hip-hop/R&B celebration of various styles and sounds was on display for the latest "Cleveland Sessions" concert series, which took place Wednesday night (Oct. 8) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Featured front and center were artists associated with local promotions group Straight Razor Entertainment.
Up first was Ray "Bones" Ford, 27, whose vibe bounced between club tunes and street anthems. A dark side - whether it's inside of the nightclub or outside on the concrete - was the Cleveland resident's modus operandi. On stage he performed material from his debut EP, "Dirty White Boy."
