ROAD SCHOLARS
The license plate: WHICH1 The car: 1999 Kia Sephia The owner: Karen Rodriguez, 60, office manager The reason: The plate used to say DAWITCH. I always dress as a witch for Halloween. I have a black dress and this hooded type cape that I wear. I do my face with the funny nose, and I have these long fingernails. I carry a basket full of apples. Most of the kids, soon as they see me, they run. One day I said, “You know what? That’d make a cute plate.” I have the face of a witch painted on the hood of my car, too. She’s kind of comical. So I got the plate. All of a sudden when I was coming out of stores there’d be people standing at my car. “Do you do spells? Do you do readings?” They figured because of the plate I was a bona fide witch. Even the holy rollers quit coming to my house. I was like, “OK. This is getting a little scary.” I decided to change the plate to WHICH1. I don’t know why. ’Cause I’m goofy, I guess. It confuses people. At least nobody bothers me anymore. But the holy rollers are back.
