    Suburbs losing jobs faster than city of Cleveland, new data show

    Suburban Cuyahoga County lost more than 35,000 jobs -- 7.4 percent of its employment -- from 2007 through 2009, according to a study from economic research analyst George Zeller. Cleveland lost 5,700 jobs, or 2.2 percent.  Full story »

    Personal incomes, consumer spending up in December

    The Commerce Department said today that incomes rose by 0.4 percent, the sixth increase in a row. That's slightly better than analysts' expectations of 0.3 percent growth. Consumer spending, meanwhile, increased by 0.2 percent, less than analysts' forecasts of 0.3 percent.  Full story »

    American Greetings may pull its world headquarters out of Brooklyn, Ohio

    In an internal memo sent to employees on Wednesday, the company said that because the City of Brooklyn voted to increase the city's payroll taxes 25 percent last spring, to 2.5 percent from 2.0 percent, "we are launching a study to consider whether or not we should move the company's world headquarters to another location."  Full story »

    Labor Department awards Ohio agencies $23.4 million in grants for green job training

    American Greetings will outsource its party goods business, cut about 237 jobs
