Cliff Lee is as good as any Cleveland Indians pitcher in a long, long time, says The Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto
There are nights when going to the ballpark means making a memory, when a dismal season takes a break every five days as the 20-game winner takes the mound.

Jhonny Peralta's development as a power hitter gives the Cleveland Indians options, says The Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto
The Indians believe their biggest off-season need is to add an in fielder who also can supply some offense. It could be a second baseman or a third baseman. A power-hitting first baseman is a possibility, but third or second seem more likely. On this day, my goal is to give you an idea of some of the Tribe's long-range thinking.

Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Terry Pluto comments on the start of high school football season in Northeast Ohio
High school football is the smell of buck-a-box fresh popcorn bubbling up at the machine at the concession stand as you walk across the bridge over Interstate 76 from Archbishop Hoban High to Dowed Field, where the season opened Thursday night as Hoban beat Akron Garfield, 27-26, in overtime.

Former Cleveland Indians manager Mike Hargrove has Hall of Fame class, says The Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto
So glad that Mike Hargrove was inducted into the Tribe Hall of Fame. He's a class act who has lived in the area since 1980, even after he was fired in 1999 and then managed in Baltimore and Seattle. In seven seasons with the Tribe, he was a .292 hitter on some very awful teams. As a manager, he is the only man to take the Indians to a pair of World Series appearances. Like Al Lopez in the 1950s, the job he did for the Tribe will never truly be appreciated.
