Kelleys Island: The Kelleys Island Audubon Club counted 41 species including two species of eagle during the February 2007 bird census. Lakeview Park: Part of a string of great gull and duck stops along the lake, including Lorain Harbor and the warm-water outlet in Avon Lake. Also good for raptor-watching during migration. Old Woman Creek State Nature Preserve: This rare fresh-water estuary is good for viewing American water lotus beds and bald eagles. Bring a kayak for the best access to heron and rails. Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve: Some days, the waterfowl can be spectacular in this 465-acre area of important varied habitat. It is one of a few remaining undeveloped areas of Lake Erie shoreline and also contains wetlands.
