    Failure to ring merchandise brings girl, 17, arrest for theft
    SEVEN HILLS THEFT, BROADVIEW ROAD: A 17-year-old Seven Hills girl was arrested by police Saturday for stealing items from her employer.

    Man faces felony charge for taking DVDs at Wal-Mart
    PARMA GRAND THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man faces a felony theft charge after he was caught Sunday stealing more than $500 worth of DVDs from Wal-Mart at Parmatown Mall. The man reportedly covered the 31 DVDs with clothing and attempted to leave the store. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BROADVIEW ROAD:A 17-year-old boy threw a glass bottle at officers dispatched to his apartment about 5 a.m. Saturday. The teen reportedly assaulted his 18-year-old live-in girlfriend. Police said he was intoxicated. Marijuana and a pipe were found inside the residence. BURGLARY, RIDGE ROAD:A garden turtle was thrown into a glass door at Luchita's, 7431 Ridge Road. A burglar got inside but was unable to get into the cash register. BURGLARY, RENWOOD DRIVE: Someone removed three flat screen televisions, valued at $6,000, Jan. 1 from a residence. It did not appear that entry to the home was forced, according to police. INTOXICATION, PEARL ROAD: Someone called police Dec. 31 after seeing a man with a handgun in his car. Police ordered the 39-year-old man out of his car. The man was intoxicated and the weapon was a starter pistol. Police said that while handcuffed, the suspect intentionally used them to scratch a cruiser. THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:Two juveniles were arrested Dec. 30 for stealing merchandise valued at about $95 from Wal-Mart. THEFT, RIDGE ROAD:An 89-year-old woman reported Dec. 29 that someone stole her purse from her room at Pleasant Lake Villa. Cash and a Social Security card were in the purse. THREATS, GROVEWOOD AVENUE: A resident reportedly threatened a Cox Cable employee who went into his back yard Dec. 29 for a repair. The man told police he didn't understand why repairs would be necessary at night. No charges were filed. THEFT FROM AUTO, PEARL ROAD: Someone smashed a window out of a Dodge Stratus parked Dec. 28 outside Continuous Play Billiards, 5573 Pearl Road, and stole a GPS unit valued at $280. THEFT FROM AUTO, BERTHA AVENUE:The front passenger window of a Saturn Ion was smashed Dec. 28 and a GPS unit was stolen. THEFT FROM AUTO, ARDEN ROAD:Two male suspects reportedly stole a GPS unit and a concrete saw Dec. 28 from a truck that belongs to Columbia Gas. THEFT FROM AUTO, DAY DRIVE: The owner of a Nissan reported Dec. 26 that someone stole his 9 mm handgun, a gun carry permit and a wallet containing credit cards. The car was parked in a retail lot.     PARMA HTS. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, NORTH CHURCH DRIVE:Officers were dispatched to about half a dozen domestic assaults during the extended holiday weekend including a Sunday evening fight at a North Church Drive apartment.

    Items stolen from two cars parked in Broadview Road lot
    PARMA THEFT FROM AUTO, BROADVIEW ROAD:Someone broke into two cars parked Sunday at Broadview Multi Care Center. Victims reported that CDs, a driver's license, a Social Security card and several credit cards were stolen. VANDALISM, STATE ROAD: Someone shattered the rear window of a Buick LeSabre Saturday. PETTY THEFT, DAY DRIVE:A man was charged with petty theft Friday after he was caught stealing merchandise valued at $3 from Giant Eagle, 7939 Day Drive. FELONY THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man was charged with grand theft Friday after he was caught stealing merchandise valued at $523 from the Macy's store at Parmatown Mall. THEFT, AMES ROAD:Approximately 35-40 Xanax pills were reported stolen Friday from a resident's bedroom. PETTY THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man was arrested Dec. 23 after he stole a package of Fruit of the Loom briefs valued at $7. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, PLEASANT VALLEY:Police arrested a man and his stepdaughter after they got into an argument Dec. 23 about Christmas presents. DRUNKEN DRIVING, PEARL ROAD: A man was arrested Dec. 23 for drunken driving. He also was cited for carrying a concealed weapon when police found a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket. PETTY THEFT, SNOW ROAD:A woman was charged with petty theft after she was caught stealing a $6 item Dec. 23 from Marc's. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BONNIE DRIVE:A 37-year-old man was arrested Dec. 22 for assaulting his wife, 37. THEFT, BROOKPARK ROAD: Someone removed a GPS unit, a digital camera and a purse Dec. 21 from a 2009 Nissan Altima parked at Jordan's, 11575 Brookpark Road. A 2004 Toytoa Rav also was damaged and miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. AUTO THEFT, FREEWAY LANES:A woman reported Dec. 21 that her 1995 Olds Cierra was stolen from the parking lot of Freeway Lanes, 12859 Brookpark Road. The same day, a 1996 Buick stolen in Cleveland was found in the bowling alley lot. PETTY THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man was arrested Dec. 20 after he was caught stealing an $18 item from Spencer's, 7907 W. Ridgewood Drive. GRAND THEFT, DAY DRIVE:Police are investigating the theft of about 40 electronic items from Toys R Us. The merchandise was in a secured display, according to a police report.     Lost' man is found to have bags of marijuana in his car
    SEVEN HILLS DRUG ARREST, ORCHARDVIEW DRIVE: Either a 34-year-old North Olmsted man was really lost or he was feeding a Seven Hills officer a line when stopped at 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.

    Playstation3 video operator is stolen on Hodgeman Drive
    PARMA HTS. THEFT, HODGEMAN DRIVE:A resident reported Friday that his Playstation3 video game operator was stolen. BURGLARY, CHEYENNE TRAIL:An apartment renter called police on Christmas day to report that the residence was burglarized. ANIMAL COMPLAINT, MANDALAY DRIVE:A resident called police Dec. 24 to report that the neighbor's dog was barking and had been left outside in bad weather. THEFT, BEVERLY DRIVE:A tool box was reported stolen Dec. 23. The box, which fits onto the truck, was taken out of a yard by two male suspects, according to the victim. COUNTERFEIT BILL, PEARL ROAD:An employee at Burger King, 6671 Pearl Road, reported Dec. 23 that a man tried to use a counterfeit $20 to purchase food at the restaurant. FALSE ALARM, PEARL ROAD:A man faces a charge for falsely reporting a fire Dec. 23 at the Club House, 6365 Pearl Road. DOMESTIC, GREENLEAF AVENUE:A man called police Dec. 22 after his fiance threw his clothes outside and struck him during an argument.

    SEVEN HILLS OVI, BROADVIEW ROAD:An evening of fun and frivolity ended up getting a 20-year-old Parma woman some unwanted police attention.

    Police arrest suspect after he stabs man with switchblade
    PARMA ASSAULT, PEARL ROAD:A man called police about 11 a.m. Saturday to report he'd been assaulted. He was at a residence when another man stabbed him with a switchblade and forced him to turn over $60. Police arrested the man accused of stabbing and robbing the victim. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, PLEASANT LAKE ROADA woman was assaulted by her husband who reportedly grabbed her by the hair about 8:20 p.m. Saturday. The woman told police her husband was passed out in the car and she was trying to retrieve the keys. He woke up and grabbed her. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A man reportedly assaulted his girlfriend while she was working Dec. 19 at Wal-Mart, 8303 W. Ridgewood Drive. The man hit the woman in the face, according to a police report. BREAKING AND ENTERING, BROOKPARK ROAD:Someone broke into Rent A Wreck, 8003 Brookpark Road, and stole a $200 computer monitor. FELONY THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A Macy's employee was arrested Dec. 18 for stealing money from the company. A video surveillance tape captured images of the man voiding transactions and taking the money from the register. INDUCING PANIC, AMES ROAD:A man was arrested after he intentionally pulled a fire alarm Dec. 17 at the Parmatown Apartments. THEFT, BROADVIEW ROAD:Police charged a man with petty theft and resisting arrest Dec. 16 after he stole $400 worth of DVDs and ran from Giant Eagle, 7400 Broadview Road. THEFT, PLEASANT VALLEY ROAD: A woman was arrested Dec. 16 for stealing $67 worth of merchandise from T. J. Maxx, 951 W. Pleasant Valley Road. She was charged with petty theft. THEFT, DAY DRIVE:A man was charged with petty theft after he was caught stealing two cases of beer, valued at $37, from Circle K, 8911 Day Drive. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, KEYSTONE ROAD:A man was arrested Dec. 15 while trying to break into a residence. The suspect used a crowbar to pry open the door. THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A teenage girl was arrested Dec. 13 for stealing $93 worth of jewelry from Claire's at Parmatown Mall. Several other teens were arrested for stealing items from the same store. All face petty theft charges. INTIMIDATION, DAWN HAVEN DRIVE:A woman reported Dec. 12 that she and her children are being harassed by three suspects they saw commit a crime. The family has received threatening e-mails and phone calls, according to police. AUTO THEFT, SNOW ROAD: Someone stole a 1996 Buick Century Dec. 12 from the Marc's parking lot, 1650 Snow Road. AUTO THEFT, ORCHARD AVENUE: A 1997 Ford Ranger was stolen Dec. 12. The car was parked on the street. THEFT, COTTONWOOD LANE:A woman called police Dec. 10 to report $50,000 worth of jewelry missing from her home.

    Teen assaults sister, her boyfriend at home
    PARMA HTS. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, CALAMIE DRIVE:Police took a 16-year-old Parma Heights youth to the detention home after he assaulted his 17-year-old sister and her 18-year-old boyfriend. The teens got into an argument Dec. 18 over a television show, according to police. CHILD ENDANGERING, PEARL ROAD:Police warned a woman about endangering her child Dec. 18 after she left the infant in a running car outside a store. VANDALISM, COMMONWEALTH BOULEVARD:A resident reported Dec. 18 that someone shredded the Christmas wreath hanging on a front fence and egged the house. THEFT, PEARL ROAD:A woman reported Dec. 18 that money was stolen from the corporate finance department of a business in the York Executive Building. The woman said a cleaning crew left the door unlocked. Nearly $15,000 in cash and checks are missing. ATTENTION REQUEST, WEST 130TH STREET:Police were asked Dec. 18 to give special attention to the area near Todd's Jewelers, 6929 W. 130th St. Store employees told police they thought the store was being cased by thieves. ASSAULT, YORK ROAD:A 24-year-old Seven Hills man was assaulted by a 22-year-old Parma man Dec. 16 at Pounders Bar & Grill, 6370 York Road. The two men were acquainted, according to police. They got into an argument twice at the bar and police were called when the second fight started. The Parma man was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. POSSIBLE STALKER, INDPENDENCE BOULEVARD:A woman reported to police Dec. 16 that a man who lives in her apartment complex has been following her.

    Intruder fails in try to enter CVS through the drive-thru
    PARMA ATTEMPTED THEFT, STATE ROAD:Police were called to CVS where workers discovered early Monday that someone tried to break in through the drive-thru window. The suspect was not able to get inside. BREAKING AND ENTERING, YORK ROAD:Drugs were stolen Dec. 14 from the Walgreens, 7888 York Road, after someone forced open the front doors. FALSE REPORT, LAURENT DRIVE: A man was arrested for making a false robbery report to police. He told police Friday that someone jumped him and stabbed him while he was walking to McDonald's. He later admitted that his friend accidentally stabbed him while playing with a butterfly knife, but he didn't want him to get in trouble. AUTO THEFT, KLUSNER DRIVE:A resident reported Friday that someone stole his 2000 Dodge Caravan that was parked in the driveway. BURGLARY, RICHARD DRIVE: Someone broke into a residence Dec. 11 and stole a BB gun, electronic items and prescription medications. IDENTITY THEFT, MALIBU DRIVE: Someone used the name of a man incarcerated to open a Master Card account. A relative of the victim reported the identity theft to police Dec. 11. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BROADVIEW ROAD:A man reportedly made numerous threatening phone calls Dec. 9 to the mother of his child and then punctured the tires on her car. The man was intoxicated when he was arrested, according to police. BURGLARY, CHEVROLET BOULEVARD:Police were called Dec. 8 to the Dollar General store where someone broke into a rear office and stole a credit card, 20 blank checks, a debit card, two Ohio lottery tickets and about $24 from a worker's purse. THEFT, BROADVIEW ROAD:A man was arrested Dec. 8 for stealing $332 worth of property from Giant Eagle, 7400 Broadview Road. GRAND THEFT, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A male employee at Wal-Mart was arrested Dec. 7 for stealing two iPods valued at $687. CHILD ENDANGERING, STATE ROAD:Police were called about 5 a.m. Dec. 4 to an apartment where the parents of a 7-month-old baby were fighting. Officers said they found open containers of alcohol and marijuana cigarette butts inside the residence. Both 19-year-old parents were arrested. The baby was turned over to a grandma. MENACING, LAURENT AVENUE:A woman told police Dec. 3 that her ex-boyfriend is threatening her.     Thief wheels away tires from car parked in drive
    PARMA HTS. THEFT, COMANCHE COURT:A resident reported Monday that someone stole the wheels and tires from his car while it was parked in his driveway. DRUG POSSESSION, PEARL ROAD: Police stopped a driver about 9:20 a.m. Sunday because his license plates were expired. Officers found marijuana and a pipe in the car. The driver was cited. DRUNKEN DRIVING, STUMPH ROAD:A 36-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Saturday after police stopped him for speeding 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. The man was intoxicated, police said, but he refused to take a Breathalyzer test. A 40-year-old passenger was wanted on a warrant. IDENTITY THEFT, STUMPH ROAD: A man reported Saturday that his niece used his name, without permission, as loan co-signer. He told police he wants to prosecute because she ruined his credit. DRUNKEN DRIVING, SNOW ROAD: Police charged a man for drunken driving after he registered .113 on a Breathalyzer test. The man was stopped about midnight Friday for weaving, police said. A small bottle of glue and a marker, that the man may have been sniffing to get high, were found in his pocket, police said. THEFT FROM AUTO, ALDERWOOD ROAD:A resident called police Friday after discovering someone broke into both of his cars. BURGLARY, ACKLEY ROAD: Someone broke into a garage and stole bicycles and tools. The theft was reported Friday morning. THEFT FROM AUTO, SPRINGWOOD ROAD:An iPod and a pair of speakers were stolen Friday from a car.

    Woman loses $3,672 to grandson' in scam
    SEVEN HILLS THEFT, KAREN DRIVE: An elderly resident received a call at the beginning of December from a man claiming to be her 16-year-old grandson.

    Bittersweet story: Explorer not stolen, but repossessed
    SEVEN HILLS THEFT OF AUTO, BITTERSWEET DRIVE: A resident called police early Friday morning when he came home to find his car missing.

    Several offices broken into at building on Pearl Road
    PARMA HTS. BREAKING AND ENTERING, PEARL ROAD:A business owner reported Monday that his office had been broken into. Several other suites in the building were also hit, according to police. UNDERAGE DRINKING, WEST 130TH STREET:Police questioned a suspicious man dressed in black about 1 a.m. Saturday after seeing him get into a parked car. The 20-year-old man was intoxicated. He was cited for underage drinking. TRUANCY, LANTERN LANE:The security guard at Normandy High School noticed two juveniles leaving the building on Friday. He located them on Concord Court. The male was cited for smoking and possessing tobacco. The female student had marijuana and a foil pipe and was charged for possessing them. Both juveniles were turned over to parents. THEFT, REIDER DRIVE:A man reported Friday that someone withdrew $1,100 from his Key Bank checking account. HARASSMENT, MANDALAY DRIVE:Police took a report Friday from a man who said he'd been receiving numerous harassing calls from his ex father-in-law. Police talked to the man and told him to stop calling. GRAND THEFT, RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A manager at the Phoenix Ridge residential facility contacted police Dec. 4 and reported that someone stole $1,100 in money orders that belonged to a client. A staff member returned some of the money, according to a police report. The incident is being investigated. DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION, RIDGEWOOD:A 23-year-old male driver was stopped Dec. 3 for driving with a suspended license. Police suspected the man was intoxicated and had him perform sobriety tests, which he failed. He was charged with drunken driving after he registered .157 on a Breathalyzer test. An 18-year-old passenger was also charged with underage drinking. LIQUOR AND DRUG ABUSE, YORK ROAD:Police attempted to stop a female driver about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 1 for swerving across lanes and hitting the curb a couple of times. The woman would not stop until she got to her Blossom Road home, police said. She admitted that she'd been at a bar and said she had two drinks. The Parma Heights woman was charged with drunken driving and for refusing to take the Breathalyzer test because she would not blow into the device as instructed. THEFT, CREEKHAVEN DRIVE:A resident reported that two items ordered online were never delivered. The resident said the U.S. Post Office tracking system indicates the items were delivered last month.

    Woman fails in try to use another's identity for drugs
    PARMA DRUG FRAUD, WEST RIDGEWOOD DRIVE:A woman tried to use someone else's identity to get a Vicodin prescription Sunday morning at Wal-Mart. ROBBERY, PLAZA DRIVE:Two men with guns robbed the Dream Audio Works, 12438 Plaza Drive. Two male victims told police they were inside the business about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when they heard an alarm sound.
