The Browns are coming to Erie.
Not those Browns, who played the Steelers at Heinz Field.
In the spring, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will begin resurrecting the Lake Erie brown trout fishery by planting the lake with 42,000 browns that should reach legal creel size by 2010. Another 57,000 will be stocked in 2011.

An easy and inexpensive way to enjoy a day of family fun at this time of year is to dress in layers, bring an extra pair of warm gloves and go hike, sled, skate, ski or fish.
The county and state parks around the area can help put the trip together. All of their hiking trails are open in winter, and Cuyahoga and Lake county parks have cross-country ski trails and sledding hills, as well as skating and ice fishing when the ice is safe.
Some parks are at their best in winter, especially Punderson State Park in Geauga County. Sled dog races lure crowds to Punderson each winter, and many families visit the park to cross-country ski, hike and snowmobile. Lake Metroparks Pine Lodge Ski Center is a wonderful place to learn how to cross-country ski and rents ski equipment, as well as showshoes.
A winter hiker enjoys the snowy trail at the Chapin Forest Reservation of the Lake Metroparks.
Kayak provides fresh look at Everglades

CHOKOLOSKEE -- Even if you have visited the Everglades multiple times, you will see it through fresh eyes if you tour it by kayak with captain Jason Sine.
Sine, a former instructor at U.S. Marine Corps headquarters at Quantico, Va., is very much at home in these modern-day frontier lands and waters. He treats his Everglades Area Tours guests as if they had stepped into his great room for a chat.
Guide Jason Sine, left, who said he can deal with anything he comes across in the Everglades but would have less success coping if his car broke down on the highway, discusses ecology with Toni Binning. Florida anglers enjoying a 'Mack Attack'

When captain Richard Stanczyk and his longtime friend Andy Newman talk with a gleam in their eyes about a ''mack attack,'' they are not referring to McDonald's hamburgers.
Stanczyk, owner of Bud 'n' Mary's Fishing Marina in Islamorada, and Newman, a Miami public-relations executive, delight in the annual winter migration of Spanish mackerel through Florida Bay -- a drag-screaming, tackle-busting, blood-spattered frenzy that caters many a holiday food fest.

The winter show season begins on Wednesday as the 33rd annual Ohio RV Supershow sets up camp at the I-X Center. The largest indoor recreational vehicle show in the country, it will expand its floor plan to more than 800,000 square feet this year to include 800 tent campers, travel trailers, motor homes and travel exhibits.
The show's theme is freedom and flexibility, says Bruce Wolfson, president of the sponsoring Great Lakes RV Association.
"The Ohio RV Supershow provides an opportunity to see and learn about all the different RV choices and to see the newest models, all under one roof," said Wolfson. He pointed out that an RV gives families the freedom to travel for a week or a weekend without airline or motel reservations, while taking along all of the gear that makes a vacation more of an adventure.
Pop-up tent campers are entry-level recreational vehicles that provide an introduction to the RV lifestyle for young families. A wide variety of tent campers will be on display at the Ohio RV Supershow, which opens on Wednesday at the I-X Center in Cleveland. Ohio statewide muzzleloader deer season totals

Shawn Dixon and his son, Max, were fishing the small Lake Erie tributaries around Bay Village when Max landed a dandy steelhead trout. The anglers focus on the small creeks when the large rivers are high and muddy.
