Placing an obituary or death notice
by Plain Dealer Staff
Tuesday May 27, 2008, 12:50 PM
To place an obituary or death notice, call 216-999-4860 from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and from 1 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Plain Dealer publishes information about deaths in two forms: death notices for which a fee is charged and obituaries prepared by reporters.
Death notices, which are paid advertisements, can be placed by calling 216-999-4860, sending a fax to 216-999-6350 or sending an e-mail to deathnotice@plaind.com.
News obituaries, which are biographical sketches of the deceased, are prepared by reporters and published at the discretion of the editors. Preference is given to those submitted within 48 hours of a person's death and before services are held. Obituaries are rarely published later than seven days after the death. To suggest a news obituary, call 216-999-4828, or send a fax to to 216-515-2039. Suggestions for obituaries, biographical information and other material may be sent to obits@plaind.com.
