Mayor should shoulder blame for stall in Girl Scouts deal
Macedonia Mayor Don Kuchta, apparently on his own, and without council approval, made some kind of deal with the Girl Scout Organization for the MOP. When council, rightfully so, voted to table the mayor's plan, he and Dr. (Daisy Alford-)Smith blamed council when he should have taken responsibility for his own actions. The mayor is authorized to "negotiate" with prospective businesses, not finalize or promise a deal without council's approval. As for Dr. Smith, it looks like you counted your chickens before they hatched. I wouldn't pay $300 for something let alone $3 million, unless I had a contract. I think they teach that in Business 101. I was in the lobby after the meeting, and the only people upset, were the "adults." Not a good example for young kids. And neither was it proper to have instructed the kids to give a gift before a vote, to council members. We do welcome the Girl Scouts with open arms, but what has to be a priority, is the ability to provide basic needs for the residents of Macedonia. Tena Hannah Macedonia

Voters have made a wise investment in their schools
I wanted to take a moment to thank the many, many hard-working people who helped Issue 48 become a reality on Tuesday. We spent a great deal of time together over the past couple of months and I have never seen so many people that were willing to make the tasks and duties of a campaign the first priority in their lives.
