Home to the prestigious Chagrin Valley Country Club and a
portion of the South Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland
Metroparks, Moreland Hills features rolling hills, plenty of
trees and glimpses of deer and other wildlife. The parks
provide areas for walking, horseback riding, jogging, bicycle
riding and cross country skiing in the winter. The
Metroparks Polo Field is located in the Village where
numerous summer activities are held; two large horse
shows, dog shows and polo games. The activities feel as if
they're taking place in your "own back yard". The Chagrin
River rolls through, too, which is both picturesque and
problematic. The river can create landslide areas, and after
a good rain or an early thaw, the river is known to flood
homes and streets.
If you bump into a Moreland Hills resident, he or she just
might be a CEO of a major company or another type of
high-income professional. One would have to be since some
of the upscale homes nestled throughout the area have price
tags of up to $2 million dollars.
The Village has a modest, rural Village Hall, which was built
onto an original Orange Township one-room schoolhouse.
The schoolhouse portion of the Village Hall is the Council
Chamber, which is also used by various groups for meetings,
luncheons and dinners.
Don't expect the hustle and bustle of shopping malls and fast
food joints in Moreland Hills. Perhaps some of those CEOs
work downtown but they come home to a quiet and
slow-paced community.
