TIPS FROM MARKETING DIRECTORS
Go to the venue's box office. In most cases, this will be your best bet to find a cheap ticket. You'll avoid additional fees Web sites or ticket brokers tack on, but probably still have to pay a facility fee. Make sure to call first to see when the box office is open; some venues only open the day of shows.
Ask about family packs or group sales. This is a good way to slice a few bucks off your ticket price.
Flip through your phone book to look for ticket brokers. Most of the time, they'll charge more than would a box office, but they're ideal for sold-out shows.
Look for scalpers across the street from the venue on performance day.
Surf the Web for sites that sell tickets - sometimes at cheaper prices, but usually with hefty convenience fees. Popular services include
These are in addition to the official sites of most venues, Ticketmaster.com or Tickets.com.
$30+ for a concert is not cheap. especially in music-rich cleveland where you can go to the grog, beachland or any similar venue for no more than $12 on any given night (i guess when people not name Neko Case are playing). Take Saturday for instance where you can see the best (in my opinion) local band, The Dreadful Yawns, for a measly five bucks. i think the PD should do a better job of promoting Cleveland's smaller venues and shows. this is a good start with silver jews, neko case and miss kitten. yet the article's inclusion of american idol, journey and coldplay is unnecessary.
I agree with mikeyq. Best concert value around here is at Beachland or The Winchester in Lakewood. Anything ticketmaster-related simply isn't worth it. It's not a question of what acts are talented and are great live performers; it's just that ticketmaster fees are exorbitant and their extra fees for "handling" or "building maintenance" or whatever are ridiculous. They can kiss my ass.
Are tickets to the Journey show on 9/6 sold out? Tickemaster states no tickets are available. If is is sold out some one did not do their research!
We are absolutely "Crushed" with entertainment options every day. DVD's, CD's, Internet,Television, Commercial and PAY Radio community concerts in the park and concert venues evrywhere. Choose the source of your entertainment that fits your wallet and quit whining. If you dont like the fees that ticketmaster charges, don't patronize their business. It's not in their best interest to lower their fees, because, they are offering a LUXURY. Look up LUXURY in the dictionary..and get back to us when you wake up!!
