Many helped make things sweet at the ice cream social
I would like to thank everyone in the Garfield Heights community who attended the eighth annual Ice Cream Social on April 24 at Garfield Heights High School. The event was a collaborative effort between the Garfield Heights City Schools' Center for Learning Support Services and Handel's Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt.
Garfield Heights' elected officials, school district administrators and community leaders served ice cream sundaes to children, families and residents in our learning community. Our community partner agencies were available to offer free information and resources. Pat Svitak of P.S. Heartworks created a wonderful atmosphere with balloons and decorations. Garfield Heights City School students volunteered their time and talent to support the event. The PTA was well-represented and the Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. A new addition, Sound Precision Entertainment, provided music to keep the energy high and the mood fun.
Once again, we surpassed the previous year's attendance.
Appreciation is extended to School Board President Joseph M. Juby, Vice President Robert A. Dobies Sr. and members, June A. Geraci, Christine A. Kitson and Frank J. Geraci Jr.; this event would not have been possible without their generous support. Special thanks to each of the "Celebrity Scoopers" who served our guests. Thank you for making the Ice Cream Social a success. I hope to see you next year.
Garfield Heights is a great community! Melissa Thompson, director GHCSD Learning Support Services
