  • A 'Legacy' plan for Solon is just plain lunacy

    Sunday, November 01, 2009
    Chagrin Herald Sun

    To the editor:

As a longtime resident of Solon, the two proposed shopping areas are totally unneeded and unwarranted.

Knocking down longtime residents' homes in the Coral plan for a 'Legacy' (i.e. lunacy) is just plain madness. The other plan by Stark is bad, but not as bad as Coral's.

This is all for the sake of Heights transplants, the new, rich and the nasty mature women in the Caddys and Jags to sit and drink coffee or while away their idle hours in an overpriced restaurant after they returned the purchases they showed off to their friends or after the holidays.

After awhile the shops will close (witness Home Expo/Legacy) due to no or slow business and we will be where the Solon Square Dinosaur is at now over-priced rent and badly maintained. Also, shoplifting, stolen cars, and other crimes follow. (Read the police blotter for what happens at Heritage.)

If they are in such dire need of a Legacy, may I suggest downtown Chagrin Falls or tearing down the Decrepit Dinosaur of Solon Square. That place is an eyesore.

Let's get our priorities straight here, folks. First, jobs at a decent wage for Solon residents, not folks bussed in from Cleveland. Also, stores that are affordable to normal people, and I would want to see Wendy's back in Solon along with a possible Aldi.
